SD, you're famous! SSS.com responded to your link with a little linkage love back!
This is a huge step towards my plan for global domination. :-P

Kudos to Trip S for taking notice. :thumb:

Also my predictions for this game:
28-17 Hornets win with 10,681 in attendance.

Awesome. Good job SD.

Apparently Raheem Morris is rooting for EWU this week...

i predict the Hornets come out in all-green...helmets, jerseys, pants, socks, shoes....in an attempt to blend into the green field. the eagles' eyes are accustomed to the red field, and will have trouble finding the hornets. to add to the stealth mode, the hornet go to a no-count approach on offense, leaving the eagles to wander around the field trying to find hornets to tackle. they will look like the infamous Fugawe tribe out there!

just a thought.

i'm sure you guys are all dying to hear...17-17 Davis at 19th ranked South Dakota at the half. Davis is playing pretty well today, running the ball and passing pretty effectively. the freakin' Dakota Dome is a tough place to win, so there's alot of game left.

Montana State 24-21 over UNC in the 4th...wtf?

and NAU 14-0 over Montana in the 2Q....wtf^2!

okay....the Montana's come back to win, so nothing too crazy in the Big Sky.

Davis has 5 turnovers and loses 27-24 in the Dakota Dome to 19th ranked South Dakota. Frustrating. Out rushed them, out gained them, out turnovered them, less pointed them.

Southern Utah beats Weber to go 2-0 vs. the Big Sky. compared to their current 0-3 in the Great West.

Weak 15 yard foul on McMahon and looks like we're getting screwed on some spots. how about online? what's it look like?

What a choke job. A 28-13 lead in the 4th and they lose?

First issue I have is that they took their foot off the pedal for 2 consecutive possessions to start the 4th and didn't start playing to win again UNTIL EWU tied the game at 28. That is on Coach Sperbeck and his coaching staff. I realize that they were playing with backups, but still ... the direction and flow of the game was in the Hornets favor. Don't curl up into a ball and hope to win with almost an entire quarter to play. Ridiculous.

Second and third issues ... I realize this is Sac State and not USC or Florida, but how can you not have a capable kicker or a defensive back taller than 5'7" ??

It's laughable that a D1 FCS program has to play their games with total disregard to the kicking game. I realize that Dinitz is a freshman kicker. But he shouldn't be in position where the Hornets even need to use him. You've got to have a seasoned kicker on your roster .. not an unseasoned freshman that isn't ready for the spotlight and pressure. That, again, is on Coach Sperbeck and the staff. They didn't do a good job ensuring that they wouldn't have to rely on a green freshman kicker.

And how sick is EVERYBODY on getting beat in games such as these because your CB gives up a foot in total reach to the oppositions WR? I understand that the Hornets don't get the cream of the crop when it comes to recruits. But are you telling me that you can't find some capable DB's over 5'7" ??? And why don't you utilize the few you've got to matchup with a WR 6'3" and over?? I rarely ever see opposing teams try to cover Brandyn Reed or Chase DeAdder with a smallish 5'7" (or under) DB. Why are the Hornets so insistent on doing so? I just don't get it. Furthermore, if I had a nickel for every time a Hornet DB fails to even glimpse back for the ball once it's in the air, I could single-handedly pay for full renovation to Hornet Stadium.

I know that the kicking game and smallish CB's have been vented about many a time in this forum, but I can't help it. I'm sick of seeing this program lose the same ways seemingly all the time.

The Hornets had NO business losing this game to EWU tonight. None. Every time I start thinking that Marshall Sperbeck is changing the culture within this program, $%#! like what we just witnessed happens.

Stop playing not to lose (like you did against Oregon State). Stop allowing the opposition to take advantage of smurf CB's. And most of all, recruit some damn kickers and make sure the ones you land are developed and not thrown into the mix their freshman season!!! While this is the FCS, it is still D1 football. There's no excuse being in a position where you can't even attempt or consistently count on FG's under 40 yards.

Sorry for the rant. But I'm really pissed off right about now, as I'm sure most of you are.

WTF!!?!? tjat 2 pointer was not in the endzone!!!

Yes, it was. Go back and watch again. For what it's worth, I think you got jobbed on the spot on the series prior to that. Great game for the most part and it sucks someone had to loose like that. Good luck, the rest of the way, I think even at 7-4 you could have a decent shot.

As for the Eags, I think we may have to start suiting up cheerleaders the next couple of games. I'm not sure if we can sustain this momentum for the next three games with all the injuries we've had. But one can hope.

Again, good game and good luck.

Unfortunately I think that kills our playoff chances. Even if we win out, I don't think they are quality enough wins to vault the others

At this point, why would you really want to make the playoffs? They'd have zero chance to beat quality teams without a kicking game or a competent DB over 5'7". EWU is not a great team this year and they couldn't beat them at home with a 15-point lead in the 4th. How are they gonna beat a better team on the road?

I'd seriously be shocked if the Hornets won out. I'd be happy with a 3-1 finish but think a 2-2 split is more likely, considering this jeckyl & hyde season they've had. My feeling is they will lose @ Portland State who is as good or better than EWU this season. They SHOULD be able to beat NAU, ISU and Davis. However NAU nearly knocked off Montana today and who ever knows which Hornet team will show up against Davis??

Sheesh. A season that started off so so promising is starting to look more and more familiar with each passing week.

One more thought. Is it possible for the Hornets defense to not only get some pressure on the QB, but actually get him to the ground too? While the DB's are certainly a problem, they could be helped out immensely by the front 7, who consistently allows far too much time for opposing QB's. You'd think a team that blitzes as much as the Hornets do would be able to get some free hits on the QB from time to time .. but they rarely ever do. And in the event they do get there once in a blue moon, they let the QB off the hook with a failed arm tackle. It's hard to stop any offense when you allow the QB as much time as the Hornets seem to do.

Diniz has to go, he is absolutely terrible... He cost Sac State a win. I can't say enough bad things about the guy as a player, simply put, he needs to leave the team!

The officiating was rediculous, the officials single handedly gave the game to the eagles, well, them and Diniz. Probably the worst officiated game I have ever had the displeasure to witness. :ohno:

DINIZ MUST GO!!!

First, congrats on the win.

Second, congrats on a win that was won by ref's.

:notworthy:

You just posted what most people think...

I am not going to flail on the players for this loss.

1. You do not play your starting QB and you know it is going to be a dog fight, really? Got your head some place it does not belong?
2. You know they have speed/size receivers, and you do not at least roll some help over the top on plays over 25 yards?
3. What happened today was unacceptable, plain and simple.

Instead of Diniz, why don't we say the coaching staff needs to go, lot stock and barrel. And by the way, don't let the door hit you on the rear end on the way out.

AND they expect us to come out and support this garbage? Unbelievable.

Sac St gave this game away thanks to our poor kicking game and McMahon. McMahon's hit on the WR was totally unnecessary and stupid as the ball was way over thrown. Instead of Eastern having to punt, they took it in for a score. McMahon gave them the momentum they needed to beat us. Then, they hold us, we punt and they go right in again for a TD. They had all the momentum and they maintained it to the overtime although our WR (Hendershott?) should of had that pass in O.T. in the end zone. I don't why he was contorting his body so; it looked like the ball was right at him when he dropped it.

I think the two backup QB's did a commendable job especially for not playing before this; both can really run well. Hopefully, Shaw can play next week as Hilliard was limping at the end. I doubt if there's anything we can do with our abysmal kicking game at this juncture in the season. I heard they tried a couple soccer players, who did okay only when there wasn't any "D" running at them. There are several good high school kickers in the area; we need to get one of them for next season.

I don't think we are making the playoffs now. We'll be fortunate to go 2 and 2 the rest of the way anyway; this team is good, but not "real good".

I agree with Green Hornet that the two backup QB's did a good job with no turnovers. Edwards had some zip on the ball and Saffron normally made good decisions running.

One thing that I saw was that the coaches used Norrise as a DB when EWU had the ball in the red zone to help prevent fade patterns to the corners. At least he never got beat for a TD! That certainly tells me that they have a concern for a 5' 7" corner in that area...

Plays that turned the game in my opinion: McMahon's hit, two field goal misses and Augies poor punt that gave EWU good field position from which the scored (deja vu from last years EWU game).

I doubt that we try any more field goals this year unless they're from inside the 10 and straight on. It's too bad we got ourselves in this position.
