Week 9 - Sac State @ Cal Poly (Green and Gold Game Edition)!

UGH. Poor play call on 1st and goal from the 5 on the opening possession results in a turnover.

They’re running it down CP’s throat and instead opt to throw a dangerous slant pattern in short space. Very Pete Carroll-ish.

There’s just no need to outsmart yourself there. Keep doing what’s working and safer.

Cal Poly looks pretty excited to play in this game + Thomson looks pretty bad so far = bad news for the Hornets

Mr. Dotson has 176 rushing and 3 YD’s. And 5 receptions for another 50. 226 total offense.

Love seeing #33 get a lot of touches.

Thomson also has 104 yards rushing.

As I kept saying, “keep it on the ground”. ;)

Trap game avoided. 6-2.

Thomson and the pass attack need to perform better next week against Weber.

FWIW, I bought a new 4K smart TV about 6 weeks ago and discovered today that I could download PlutoTV on it. It made streaming a helluva whole lot easier. I used to have to use my smartphone and chromecast device. Not anymore.

Anyway, I can’t wait for next week’s game! Might there be 20K+ for that one???

Did the same myself last summer and it works well for Pluto TV except for some occasional glitching here and there. I've also been finding myself watching documentaries lately on Pluto TV, some good stuff there!

Can't wait for next week's game either, my wife and I are flying down from Washington for it!

38-14 Hornet win. Hornets controlled the game from start to finish. Hornet offense put of 519 (438 on the ground) total yards while the defense held CP to 202 total yards.

Offense had a great opening drive only to throw it away with a goal line INT, but they got on the board in the 2nd quarter and put the game away by halftime. I agree with BHF, should have kept pounding it away. Same goes on the drive that ended with the missed FG. Fortunately those missed opportunities didn't impact the outcome of the game.

Defense was lights out. CP had 60-ish total yards at the half. And it looked like the D knew what plays were coming in certain down and distance situation as they rolled up 6 sacks and 12 TFLs on the night. CP had one good play to Koski but rolled up most of their yards (and their 2nd TD) against the backups in garbage time.

Hell of a game on both sides of the ball.

Weber mud stomped the dungpilers 36-20 to officially end their season and set up a new "biggest game in Hornet history" when they come to town next week. Should be a good one.

Lol. We’ve been able to say that nearly every single week lately.

In terms of predicting attendance for next weekend’s game, would you take take the over or under set at 15,140?

Weather forecast looks good as of now, so I believe we might see a larger fan turnout than the Montana game. Although there were a good amount of Griz fans in attendance, so it might depend upon more local fans coming out to compensate.

Do Weber fans travel well?

Congrats on the big win at SLO. 2 road wins in Big Sky. And thrilled to beat the other CSU in the Sky in football. Loved the attention to be in CA for Big Sky football. UC Davis last year and Cal Poly other years but now Sac State the all sports school in the Big Sky.

Up next 'Weber State.

Biggest game of Sac State football history happening at Hornet Stadium on November 2, 2019'

I didn't see it as I don't have Internet access at home, but I DEFINITELY agree that the Rice slant is a VERY bad call on the goalline. Earlier this season, an NFL QB threw a pick into triple coverage on a goalline Rice slant.

I'm either calling I Right 10 Wedge (or Q Dial/Dirt in Volek terms) or I Right 18 G (option right). About the only pass that makes sense to me inside the 5 is a rollout flat pass with a backside corner route tacked on for good measure. There's not enough space to run any other routes. Actually, that rollout is a good call because the LBer is caught in no-man's land: if he stays on the receiver, the QB waltzes right in, but if he attacks the QB, he just dinks it into the receiver's greedy hands....
