What a sorry mess.

What a sorry mess the game with CSUP was to watch. I not talking about the football team, I talking about the lack of fan support. The football team would have won the game by at least 14 or more points if not for a couple of CSUP lucky breaks. The sad thing was the lack of fans that show up. It was embarrassing to see our student section with only a few dedicated fans and how the sea of red CSUP fans took over our stadium. I don't know what kind of students we have now, but they sure don't seem to have much school spirit if they can only come out to a game if they know their team is going to win. Maybe it is just a sad reflection on the type of people we have in this country. Kids grow up thinking they are all winners and we don't allow anyone to fail. We all get a ribbon and a trophy just for showing up and then in the real world when they are faced with loss they can't handle it and hide in their blame and finger pointing.

I have been a UNC supporter for the past 49 years and I am never happy when we lose, but I never give up being a fan and I try to make every game UNC plays when I get back to Colorado and even here in Oregon when they play Portland State.

Let me get this straight, you're putting this loss on the fans? Please, let me be the first to call BS!! If there's any reflection of anybody, YOU my friend are a reflection if this joke of a football team and staff. As far as I'm concerned, being PRESENT at the game. We had plenty of support as far as it pertains to the "well being" of the teams success. Another thing, last time I checked what coaching staff estimates on the field success based on the number of fans in the seats. Gimmie a break dude! PSU needs your attendance.

But where do fans go from here on out? I can only speak for myself and that last Saturday was one of the worst football games I've ever been to. After winning most of our games at the end of last season and considering the
talent we had coming back, I was almost certain we would handle an RMAC team. CSU P has only 10 seniors among a 24 scholarship squad. Then of course we lose. Some losses are bigger than others and this was a big one. In terms of fan morale, recruiting, etc.

But then Collins goes on the air with Troy and does not take the lose on his shoulders, like he should. He got worked by Wristen. Not just out-coached but beat all over. Wristen made Chip his bitch. Some coaches will be man enough to shoulder the blame, but not our coach. It's always someone else's fault. That's BS.

So, yes it is a mess. I don't want to go to another game this season. I had plans of going to Laramie, but I'll save my $$$ and stay home. I don't want to go watch us get worked over by UNI either. I don't blame ANY fan for not showing up. TEN YEARS of this crap is long enough, far long enough!!!!!!!!!

Well when you have sucked for the past something years, I can't even recall because it has been soooo long. But I just remember how a few students that were sitting behind me during the Langston game figured CSU-P was going to come in roll UNC. That's why you don't have any fan support, because its the same old thing year after year, all talk and no walk.

I agree Beardown, Collins said in the post game conference that they will "bounce back", well I hope bounce back means making a playoff push or appearance. If not, Collins bounce back his ass out the door. OOOOOOOOOOOO AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

Also I probably won't be attending anymore home games anytime soon. I saw on the schedule where there a few games that are marquee game where to the ticket prices are going to go up, a fat LOL to that, you should be letting people in for free after last weeks game.

I agree with budbear. Its sad when there is little or no school spirit or fan support for a team, football or any sport for that matter. But for Beardown to say that he isn't going to go to the Wyoming game or the UNI game just because he does not want to see us "get handled" is pathetic. Half of all teams that play this weekend will lose, and all the teams that do will put the loss behind them, practice all week to try to improve, and play the hearts out the following week to try to win. Welcome to the reality of sports. UNC lost to CSU-P. Get over it. Move on. Kansas State lost their season opener at home to NDSU, a lower division team. Both losses were flukes. But flukes happen in sports. I watched both games and there were many similarities. Early big leads for the favorites, let downs, and turnovers resulting in points. If Seth doesn't throw one of his two interceptions, we would of won, or if our specail teams would have not allowed the return for the TD, we would have won. If they were to play again today, UNC win. You know what, it doesn't matter. The game is in the past. Real fans understand that. Thats why Kansas State was sold out last weekend following there lost. No Beardown fan types skipping the game because they got there pride hurt the week before. UNC will be good again. They will continue to work hard and improve. I will continue to back them and not turn my back on them when they stumble or fall. Why? Because I'm a real fan. I understand that flukes happen. I understand that programs do not turnaround overnight, or even in two or three years. We won five games last year. Big improvement over the past. Be patient and see what the season produces before you cast judgement based on the outcome of one game. A fluke. In short, stop whining and support the program.

Not putting the loss on the fans at all. They lost the game because of some bad breaks. Just pointing out that you shouldn't be a fair weather fan. If you ever have the chance to be a father some day and have a chance to see your child play a sport, you will understand what it means to be supportive. You will go to every game no matter how many wins or losses they have. You might not like the coach and even want to get another coach for the next year, but you will never stay away just because they lose their games. UNC is MY school, not CU, CSU or any school. I am a UNC fan win or lose and always will be.

Couldn't agree more with McCandyman and budbear. Both of you are right on the mark. A fan, whether you support the coach or not, will support the team and the kids. These kids are playing their hearts out each and every game. They deserve our support.

Yep your right. I too may have said some things but that was just a knee jerk reaction right after the game. Of course we were dissapointed. Have been dissapointed for 10 years but hell, I will be back rooting for them this weekend and next week back in Greeley! Don't give up ! Go Bears !

Fans will come back when we start winning consistently. Ten years of losing seasons will take a toll on any fan base.

My kid is new to the school and I have been watching a lot of all the sports events on the computer due to us living out of the state. I will say I was more than shocked to see the lack of fan support at these games. My son came from a very small school in the middle of nowhere and there was a greater level of fan support at the high school games than at the University. It is very surprising. I hope basketball season has a better turnout...

I doubt your small town high school team has over 4k show up at their games. That being said, it's a small average. These students have never seen a winning football program at UNC.

Nottingham Field used to fill up pretty good. Never great numbers, but good numbers. Perhaps when we hire a better coaching staff that will occur again.

We got a much better turnout when we were DII because we won consistently. Seeing how quickly the students and community rallied around our basketball tea a few years ago, I have no doubt winning 6-7 games a season for a few years would help a tremendous amount. Big Sky streaming and the kfka 1310 streaming radio feed are a godsend to us out of state supporters.

Maybe my computer was broke or the screen blocked out the other 3.5k for the first couple of football games this year but it did not look like 4k in those stands, looked more like a couple of hundred, 500 tops... The point I am trying to make is that I expected a better turnout as the school seems to be greatly respected in the area. I was expecting to see a packed house and was surprised when it wasn't.

There were about 2,000 CSU-P fans in Greeley for the first game, plus about the same number of UNC fans. You sure you were watching UNC and not a high school game? The school being respected doesn't mean butts in the seats. Air Force is a pretty respected school I would venture and they have awful attendance sometimes. As some have said, there need to be changes at a higher level than head coach before any real change (football success) is going to take place in Greeley.

LOL. 500?? Official number is over 4K.

I blame UNC for not promoting games. There is very little advertising around Greeley, and the same goes for the campus.

I am a UNC student and they typically only promote the homecoming game. I ask lots of friends if they are going to the games and most of them do not even realize that there are games being played on Saturday.

As far as the CSUP game goes. For them it was their biggest game of the year so it makes sense for their fans to make the trip.
