What do you recommend the new AD do?

I think we need to let Geving go. Though he is a heckuva nice guy and recruiter, he hasn't produced. We should help him get his dream job (head coach, Central Washington) and he should help us get a winning coach like Ken Bone was for us.

We need an AD that understands that once the Viking Pavilion is complete (or near completion), we're out of excuses as to why Portland State men's hoops (and women's for that matter) does not dominate the Big Sky year in and year out. With facilities no longer being an Achilles' heel with recruiting, the goal should be build and enhance our program brand where we are able to pack the bulk of our roster full of northwest kids right out of high school.

When the Vik Pavilion comes into use during the 2017-2018 season, would you expect

A) Geving's team to suddenly improve

B) Geving to be replaced at that season's end

C) Basketball business as usual without any change to the program

The answer is "C". Even if the answer was "B" the result would be the same as "C". Every once-in-a-while PSU lands a great coach like Mouse, Pokey, and Bone and does well for a few seasons but we always fall back to mediocrity. Maybe once-in-awhile we have a magical season like football's 2015, but again, nothing can be sustained and mediocrity remains the norm.

Down in Eugene, Ernie Kent (who brought the Ducks to two Elite Eights) was released before he could set foot in Matt Knight Arena as coach. Clearly, there's a benchmark by which you can (if cynically) advertise a new building.

That's how it should be approached... anyone taking this comment as a sign probably shouldn't hold their breath.
