What planet am I on that Beau Baldwin isn't a Coach of the Year finalist?

I am seriously disappointed in this turn of events. ....my head almost exploded when I looked up and down the list and didn't see his name. Of all the years he is deserving of this and he is not even nominated...what a JOKE!

Baldwin, as even keeled as they come, has to be a little insulted. Yeah, we all know the team is what counts and individual awards are a team effort but...you can bet the coaching staff, players, athletic dept. and yes even Baldwin take this a bit personal. They may feel charged up with a little something to prove next game, the game after that and so on down the road. I'm pissed/insulted knowing Baldwin is the #1 coach in all the land!

I'm scratching my head too. They were picked to finish around fourth in the bsc, breaking in a new qb, new offensive line, and a brutal schedule to start the year. That definitely doesn't deserve recognition. Come on STATS your better than this.

Take it as a compliment... maybe Eastern is considered such a power program that 10-1 with a Big Sky title is the media's expectation. (Yes, I realize that should affect NDSU and Sam Houston State as well...)

They responded on facebook saying it was a tough choice between Baldwin and UND coach so I wonder if they only choose 1 coach per conf erence.

It says, "at least one representative from all 13 FCS conferences" but it doesn't say limited to one per conference.
So they could have had Bubba and Beau.

Yah just saw that as well. Find it ridiculous though that a coach with a 7-4 record is being considered :coffee:

While Bubba has done a good job in conference play, possibly as good as Beau, if he really was Coach of the Year worthy he would have come away with victories vs Bowling Green and Stoney Brook. I will respectfully disagree with their choice.

Fine by me. Less coverage hopefully means we'll get him another year.

I am not going to lie... this is immediately what came to mind for me as well. Although, major schools already know all about Beau, I am sure. Amazing coach.

While I am absolutely NOT disagreeing with you regarding Baldwin; I am shocked he isn't on the list, it is worth noting that while UND should have come away with those 2 victories, they then when on a 9 game win streak to finish the season.

Stony Brook - UND was not ready to go. Looked really rusty on offense. Then lost our top WR for the year with a broken leg. Still, lost the game because of a blocked punt for TD. Definitely a tough way to start the season.

Bowling Green - Unfortunately, BGSU turned out to be way worse than expected. Still I think Bubba did all he could in this one, including going for a 2 pt conversion and the win as time expired, rather than taking the XP and going into OT. Which was probably the right call given the time, place and situation.

Still, stinks that Baldwin isn't on there. Can't tell me he wouldnt be on the list if EWU had beat NDSU; so should the difference between him making the list and not making it really be and OT game against the 5 time defending champs? Doesn't make sense to me. Not saying he would or should win it, but should definitely be on the list.

I can guarantee Baldwi doesn't even think about this sort of thing. I don't think many coaches do. Recognition is nice, but winning is a helluva lot better. And you can't find holes in the UND coach, getting to 9-2 given they've been hovering near .500 for a while shows he's got that program on a great trajectory.

Gonna reserve judgement on the state of UND's program; think we all thought the same last year about Barnum and PSU. Although, it appears UND is doing a good job recruiting. As to Baldwin, does he have any clauses for bonuses based on championships, awards or such?
