Anyone know when Weber will stop scheduling 2 fbs opponents? I know we play Wyoming next year but is that it or is there another 2 FBS games future ahead of us?

Weber needs a way to fund their program. I'd rather play teams that are beatable like last season, but nonetheless, the football team is responsible for raising 450K a year, outside of ticket sales and donations. So, that means they have to play FBS games. If Weber were playing a San Jose St, Nevada, or UNLV along with Boston College, this years schedule would be great. But playing two FBS programs on the level of BC and TT is kinda suicidal. However, Bovee had no choice, but to schedule those teams. He didn't have a schedule in place for 2010 and there weren't a lot of options left.

FBS teams payout to FCS teams, just like FCS teams payout to lower level teams. Last year Weber, I think, made close to 500K for Wyoming and CSU. I really like next seasons FBS schedule. Supposedly Weber is playing USU and Wyoming. Winnable games, but neither are big payouts.

Does anyone know how much Weber is getting from BC and TT?

If I was a player, I would love playing teams the calibur of BC and TT. It brings the best out in you. I know that whenever I am playing with or against someone that I know is my superior, I tend to play at my highest level and it is a lot of fun. You don't win a lot of those matchups but it's, sure as he!!, fun trying. I see these lesser div. teams come into Ogden and they are excited to play us. For year, I have been on the opposing teams sidline at football games and I have seen and heard about everything from players and coaches. Teams that respectfull but competitive attitude do quite well, for at least a quarter or two, and probably leave here feeling that they did well in an almost impossible situation.

All 5'11'' of me loved going up against Willie Sojourner. He beat the crap out of me, but I loved every minute of it and would do it again when I'm 80 if Willie were still around.

Utah State is paying Idaho State $200,000 this year. That's not a great payout compared to what other FBS schools pay out, but it's not bad for either ISU or Weber State. It will be a same day bus trip for Weber, and an overnight stay, at most, for ISU. No air fare or multiple night stay.

Texas Tech payed Eastern Washington $450,000 in 2008. I would venture to guess they are paying at least that amount to Weber.

The other piece is strength of schedule. We don't make the playoffs last season if we don't have two FBS teams on the schedule. Earning the automatic berth in the near future seems unlikely, so scheduling strong is a controlable metric the school can use to convince the comitee to give us an at large bid.

2013 is our next chance to only play one FBS

2010: BC, TT
2011: USU, Wyo
2012: 12 game year so 2 FBS is a guarantee
2013: ?

As well will 2012 be the year we finally go back to SUU? 2012 is the next time we can play an OOC non FBS road game.

Thats true about last years season, but if we didnt play at Wyoming and Colorado State and lost both games, we could have played at SUU and home to UC Davis or whatever and went into the playoffs at 9-2 instead of 7-4

Im not totaly against playing up, as long as your playing up vs a team that you have a chance at beating, and not get crunched.
