Whittling Down The Roster

If I was to bet my pay check, I'd bet on Brown to be the 5th guard. Someone on that guard line is going to red shirt next year, as well. We lose Bull, but replace him with Davion and Hill. It's really too bad that all three Fr. guards can't RS this year. There will only be two, three if you count Hill, who will even have a red shirt year left next year. We may be forced into using more guards. It could actually be a good thing, depending on the adjustments we make, in our game plans, to accomodate it.

As for Fulton playing 3. It isn't about the outside shot. Our 4s can and do take outside shots. It's about guarding other teams 3s and handling the ball on the wing. You know, making the entry pass, the dribble drive, and running the O from that perspective. Mook can do all of those things. Fulton struggles with some of it.

will we really see fulton play the 3? i would put otis at the 3 before fulton. fulton was the freshman of the year a the 4 last yr. but after we discussed bull for 2 yrs thinking he should get moved to the 3 it did happen and he was an all conf selection at the 4 as a fresh and a first teamer as a jr at the 3.

I hear you if you look at their height. However, Mook is a starter and starts at the 4. Additionally, in watching some of their practices, Mook seems stronger inside that Fulton though he is an inch shorter. And I don't know that Monday is absolutely indicative but Fulton (who shot 48 percent from 3 last season) seems to have a better outside game that Mook. Willing to listen to any and all flaws in that logic.

well you have seen them play so i will listen to your posts. i only heard good things about otis last yr and how he would probably be a starter for 2011-12. i just hope to see fulton get a lot of minutes on the court any way he can. if fulton is struggling to get minutes that means we have a very good squad. i liked what i saw last yr and he still has 3 yrs. and his outside shot seemed like a big surprise. we dont need otis' outside shooting plus i dont think he has ever shot a 3 before. we need him rebounding.

in big sky play w/ a 6-10 center and good size at the 3 and its backup it will be really fun to watch. we might be able to overmatch other teams besides nau (unless they are too fast).

Hill isn't a guard. He is a true forward, that can play either the 4 or 3. He will primarily play the 3, thats why Rahe recruited him, but if needed he could put in time at the 4. No matter, I wouldn't doubt if he red-shirts next year. Bull is not a guard he is also an absolute forward. Davion, yes, can play either the 1, 2, or 3, and will see a lot of time, probably 25+ a game next year. Shai is almost exactly the same type of player as Davion, but he is still growing and could end up at 6-6. The only player that will, in all likelihood redshirt next year is Hill, who is a forward.

In Randy's system the 3s are considered guards. I know that is not traditional. He has a point guard and two wings, the 2 and 3, The role of the 2s and 3s are almost the same. Then he has two post players, the 4s and 5s. They are also quite interchangable. When he looks at a guard rotation, it includes what you are calling a small forward.
