Who is Jonathan Newsom?..........and for that matter not one player profile has been updated on the UNC squad..Does anyone realize it's the little things in life that matter...Dimitri Stimphil may be one of the best WR on the team and yet his 2013 history is as long as the fourth string backups at Eastern Washington. Go look at the pride of Eastern Washington.......Vernon Adams..............I enjoyed reading every bit of the four pages of info the school displays on him................bet his parents are proud............
We will be having a big get together to promote our student athletes on the 20th and yet not a sole will know who Jonathan Newsome is.....................
And for those who tell me we can not afford to utilize a computer because we are a poor school...........................I say this......The school has an endowment fund approaching $100,000,000.00 dollars............who are we saving this for................
And one more thing..........the 6 or 7 recent videos put up by UNC football all include the DEFENSE. Where is our man Stimphil and can we meet our captains of offense. No disregard to LEX.......as we all love him but I've seen your face in every video and want to see Stimphil and our Captain Rubes............and for that matter..........where is Boyer and Grable............or will I have to look at Larrys' mug again...............the Defense is beaming with pride..................where is Stimphil

We should get one... I am currently at my daughters university, checking her in as she starts practices and workouts to play volleyball. They took their team and individual pictures two days ago and their pictures and bios are already up on the site. They have posted a ton of information in the last few days to get the fans excited and ready for the season. Their schedules are up and it is a lot of fun to check their website on a daily basis to see how the teams are doing.
I have been waiting for the schedule for basketball for awhile now, it seems we are one of the only schools left that hasn't posted it. The bios are outdated, and the information about the team is lacking. In order to build and maintain a fan base, there has to be a steady flow of interesting tid bits of information provided to the fans. If the information doesn't change for weeks or months on the website, fans will just stop checking. I only now check once every couple of weeks because I know nothing is going to be different. They need a social media person who hounds the assistant coaches for information that they can post. The lack of information is boring for us fans...

We normally do have one. Heather Kennedy was the S.I.D. for a number of years, but I don't think she's employed at UNC any longer. I imagine they're working on getting that position filled. Troy probably knows more about what's going on (but he's in the hospital, hope everything is okay), and he posts here every once in a while.

I have actually been saying it for years, that this school is in dire need of better marketing. I have written letters to former AD's and nothing has happened. There needs to be a better effort to promote our athletic programs and players and coaches and stats. The list goes on and on. As fans, we want info !! Come on, help build interest in our teams. We can do a better job. GO BEARS !!!

Decent marketing or even something resembling marketing is a HUGE hole in athletics at UNC. The lack of information put out about the teams is one of the most frustrating aspects about being an alum and fan. Absolutely drives me crazy seeing all the things pumped out by all of the other BSC schools about their teams. Look at any of the other schools in the conference and they have a constant flow of articles, press releases, quality videos, social content and updated web content about all their teams. We are stuck with an athletic department that can't even find the time to update the roster or update the schedule on the website. How hard is it to update a website and consistently add new some new content? I don't even want to get started on the pathetic effort or flow of information in social media. If you want to see anything there you are better off following the players and coaches than you are following any of the so called team accounts or athletic department accounts. As for the video, I had been somewhat impressed by the quality of the work, not necessarily the quantity, coming from the athletic department last Spring and early in the Summer, but the quality of what has been produced since football camp has started is really really disappointing. I wasn't hoping or expecting to see the same quality as the Emmy award winning group over at CU, but C'mon Man! My 8 year old could film, edit and produce those clips.

As for Jonathan Newsom- he is a JUCO transfer out of Orange Coast Community College. Has two years left to play. Threw for around 1,300 yards and 13 TDs in 7 games his Freshman year. Have not found his stats for last year. Here are his highlights-

Just did some further research on the matter and it appears that the University of Houston has one of the best Athletic Web Sites in the FBS........All player profiles from volleyball to football include all wonderful bios on their freshman...and frankly their freshman have better info then Dimitri Stimphil. Does anyone know that Dimitri had the most receiving yards in a single game last year then any other receiver in the BIG SKY???

Case in point: I recently read the BIG SKY MEDIA FOOTBALL REPORT..............we are the only team in the Big Sky who cannot spell the word THE..........we spell it teh: Note second paragraph page 50.

Somehow the Athletic Department AD thinks we play Eastern Washington at home this year in Greeley. Note page 50, 6th paragraph. Note misspelling and fragmented sentence. The following page under schedule on page 51 says we play EW at EW.............

I did not note any spelling mistakes or scheduling mistakes on the University of Houston Website???????????

And one more thing.............thanks for putting up that link to Jonathan Newsom............we should add that to all player bios.................and perhaps I'll start featuring a few players here each week on the blogs

Are you referring to the football teams inability to win? If so, I certainly agree. However, we win at most sports UNC offers.

The AD Dunn seems to care a great deal about his Bio..............he has 12 paragraphs within his bio right down to being the tiddlywinks champion of his 2nd grade class........

Where is the Justice for Dimitri Stimphil and Lexington Smith..............their combined body of work during the 2013 season represented on the website consists of slightly less than a paragraph of Darren Dunns 12 paragraph bio...........

Just football... This was in the football section so I just was sticking to football. The other teams do have great winning percentages but still lack the information output that would keep fans interested and aware of all of the great things the teams are doing...

Game Day Marketing Suggestion: Want to get the crowd involved on defensive 3rd downs at home games? I suggest a giant bear coming up on the jumbotron at the end of every 2nd down and running until the start of 3rd down that includes a growing monstrous growl that gets the crowd on their feet. This could be HUGE at getting some 12th man involvement when we are on defense. This defense is going to be STOUT this year and Dunn must make sure the Jumbotron investment is used like it supposed to for example how WY uses theirs. GO BEARS!!

I think the lack of info is because they haven't hired a new S.I.D. When Kennedy was there it was getting better. She did player Q and answers, lots of write-ups, etc. Once they hire her replacement, I'm sure it will get better.

Typical UNC the season starts in what, 10 days and they don't have an SID... it took what, 8 months to hire an AD, we might have an SID by next fall.

We were just discussing this on another post about why there is 12000+ students at the school but only about 20 or so posters on this blog (And I believe most of them are athletes parents or former students.) I am glad to see all the new hires and can't wait to see the new and exciting changes in the future...
