Who will be the next Defense Coordinator?

Isn't Robin Pflugrad an offense coach? He'd be a great OC, but a DC? It may be best to hire a great defensive program's coach who's ready to move up to an FCS DC position. When you think of great defensive program, which university teams come to mind? Who's hot right now? Stanford, Oregon State, Bama, Georgia, ND

What PSU needs most right now is pass defense. Who's best there? In the West, it is Fresno State, Boise State, Arizona State, and ... Bowling Green have allowed fewest pass yards this season. Find the right pass defense DC from one of these programs, one who fits and is ready to move up.

That was my thought as well, that he's more of an offensive guy.

I think he'll need to take a coordinator position for a few years before he'll be hired as a D1 head coach. He's dragging around some heavy baggage at this point...

Should we be getting worried that we haven't heard anything on the defensive coaching front yet? It seems like we should be seeing more defensive guys getting offers and committing. So far, it seems we are only hearing about offense. Is PSU getting left behind recruiting on defense or are we recruiting athletes to convert to defensive positions?

I was just wondering that today. I hope we get a good DC. Any improvement from last year's defense is greatly welcomed. I second the thoughts on recruiting. Looks like we are set as far as lineman go. Maybe some of those big O-linemen will be moved to the defensive line. I hope we are bringing in athletes to compete at the WR and DB positions. Any team speed would be nice. We really lacked speed guys in S/T and Offense. Our CBs didn't really get burned as much as we rag on them for, they were with WRs stride for stride, they just don't turn around to make a play on the ball. Maybe the new DC will correct this.

Is it kind of ironic that we have hired two defensive minded coaches as our head coaches (Glanville and Burton) and yet have had the worst defenses? When Burton hires his DC, maybe he should stay away from the coaching aspect and stick to recruiting.
