WHO'S GOING TO TUCSON?!?!

I just was curious to see how many fans we think will make the trip down to AZ. I want to go but my friends don't have the time nor the money. I was hoping maybe we could get something going on here. A possible bus or even a van to take a dozen people or even more. There will be 550 tickets for the bears fans through the school. I'm hoping this post can create a little something to get some true fans (the ones on this blog!) down to AZ to root on UNC! GO BEARS!

I have to work but what time is the game?
I did pick the Bears in my bracket.

Anyone know how the UNC basketball team is traveling to the tournament? I heard the head of the selection committee say that the NCAA already had charter planes at places like UCLA to take them to their sites. Is the NCAA providing a charter flight for the Bears and who pays for it, NCAA or UNC? Are the cheerleaders and the band going as well on the charter with the team?

Interesting questions. I remember for the football game in Florence vs. New Haven (waaaay back when) they had a charter plane for the players and band then another for the fans that left a couple of days later. Then on the way back you just got on whatever plane you wanted. It was cool flying back with some of the players and band members (then going straight to Butler for the rally).

Can't make this trip. :(

The drive to Tucson isn't that bad, about 12 hours and the students are on spring break. The Trib mentioned the "Cows" traveling to AZ. I think we will be well represented.

The head of the selection committee was talking about getting the teams that play tues & wed to Dayton,Oh. for the play-in games. Those were the teams the Charters were waiting on.

It's extremely short notice, but Whiskey River is having a meeting today at their place at 2:00 for anyone who was interested in possibly paying for a big bus to go down there. In terms of allotment, all that I read is that UNC is being given 350 seats (Per the Denver Post), and if they sell that out (which I think they will in talking to many of my fellow students) then they can get an additional 200.

@ ITS A BEAR THANG: Will you let us know about info on a possible whiskey River bus. I live in Denver and would gladly join the trip but need some details. Cost, Leaving, Coming back dates, ECT. Thanks a bunch.

I'll be there! I was planning on going to Scottsdale to spend a couple days watching spring training. I totally lucked out that we're playing in Tucson. So instead of landing and heading to Scottsdale, I'll be landing early Thursday morning and heading straight south to Tucson. I can't wait!

I live near Tucson. Let me know, PM or post here, if any of the travelling Bears supporters have any questions about the "Old Pueblo". I've had friends and family go to school at the U of A and I spent a lot of time in/post college down there. Those of you making the trip...win or lose... you won't regret the experience.

NCAA chartered the flight, and is paying for a travelling party of 75. Cheerleaders, pep band, some athletic dept. staff are a part of the trip.

During this road trip you'll probably be staying at the Marriott or somewhere really cool like that. The hotels we stayed at during the NCAA tourneys as a student were freakin awesome.

They already announced the team hotel and honestly, it doesn't look that great. The Spring Training people probably have the best hotels.
