Why are people in Pocatello so rude?

I have found Pocatello to be a beautiful place. But the people here range from unfriendly to outright rude. I am sorry I am not a ginger. But I am an American and live here. I am not a student. i live here permanently. But I can't find any support groups or any answers to why people here act the way they do. Probably the nicest thing people say is "do you go to ISU?" TO which I reply "No. Why would I? Are you a recruiter or something? I think I am just a tad too old for school. Are YOU a student?"

What gives?
