Wide Receiver Discussion

On the Griz fan forum they were discussing how the Griz might have a better receiving corps than EWU this year. mtgrizrule commented:
"As for EWU some of our fans never learn and just do not give respect to EWU. Every year they have a WR factory. I am sure next season they will find another 1 or 2 WRs to put up big numbers along with Kupp."
StumptownGriz answered:
"Remember they stole one of our top recruits in Kendrick Bourne. I think he played as a true freshman despite all the talent already on EWU. Bourne is loaded with skill and potential and will be a major problem for BSC secondaries for years."
Even with the talent we had at WR this last season we did take true freshman Bourne off redshirt so he must be good. With Nic Sblendorio (Skyline) still on redshirt, and Terrence Grady, (Kentwood), and maybe Zach Eagle (Camas)and/or Cole Karstetter (Ferris) having made verbals as WRs we should be able to keep the Griz faithful awake at night worrying about our receivers.

It is time to move some of this great talent to Defense. We have the offense to get to a NC, but we are not there on the other side of the ball.

As much as I hate the old axiom, defense really does win championships. Just look at the Seahawks. They have a good offense, but comparatively fall short of the firepower we have at our level, respectively. I shudder to think of what we could achieve with a top-tier defense to compliment our firebrand offense.

Shouldn't be a surprise we get very good receivers at Eastern. It is not a secret we pass a lot and have outstanding QB's throwing the ball. What may be the most overlooked aspect is we have Junior Adams wide receiver coach. If a kid comes in with any level of skill at all Junior will coach 'em up to be a winner.

Don't bet against Manu Rasmussen and Cole Karstetter ending up on the defensive side of the ball. Rasmussen was a Oregon 6A First Team All State defensive back; Karstetter was Second team 4A All State DB in Washington, and he was the defensive POY in the Greater Spokane League. Nic Sblendorio was First Team All State Wide Receiver in 2012. Zach Eagle was a first team receiver this year.

what about jake Hoffman? I noticed he is redshirting this season but was a pretty good receiver in HS. will he play on defense? as for next year it looks like we're pretty stacked again with Kupp, Mitchell, Hill, and Bourne all back. Who else will be in the mix?

#80 Blair Bomber, #11 Kendrick Bourne both have experience from this year.

Yep, Bomber and Bourne should be solid contributors...other than those guys, I'm not sure which Freshman will be playing WR next year. Like I said before, maybe Sblendorio, but I think he will play DB. Just a guess.

Hoffman and Rasmussen will be DB's too IMO. Should be young and dynamic secondary with guys who saw a lot of time do to injuries this season back and new talent coming off redshirt and in 2014 class. Will be faster this coming season. Hope to see more aggression on this side of the ball throughout games. Any news on Hamlin's chances at a 6th year?
