Will Rahe Stay?

I'm going to be interested in the opinions of other posters on here, as there seem to be quite a few that enjoy bitching out Rahe all the time

Yes, because he won't be offered the USU job. I really think USU wants to go with something new. Rahe would just be Stew 2.0.

Lots of speculation here...

I think we will see Rahe staying in Ogden. First off, he doesn't want to be the first coach after Stew. He has said that many times. Verlin might take it, but I know that Rahe doesn't want it so soon after Stew. He would like the job, but would only take it after the next USU coach. Then again...who knows. Anything is possible. My question is, if Rahe leaves, how much does Bovee offer Beckner?

This is just my opinion, I feel that USU would be considered a lateral move. If Randy wouldn't take Boise, he certainly wouldn't take Logan.

I think that our community has treated him well and that it would take a much better offer than that to lure him away.

I expect this coaching staff to be at WSU for the foreseeable future. :thumb: :thumb:

Alright catcat, quit wearing your wifes aggie panties and think about this rationally. There is no way that Rahe would go to Logan.

Hmmm...
- Big Sky vs Mountian West;
- Less money vs more money;
- A school that has had a history of struggles with fan numbers and community support vs a rabid fan base and and entire valley of die hard supporters;
- (Boise) a school where football is king vs a school that historically has basketball success but currently both.

I wouldn't be so confident. Didn't Rahe interview with Colorado St. a few years back?

This is not The USU program you describe the last 3 years. They didn't even sell out their 9,500 seat arena with byu in town. Plenty of problems in Logan. You described a program from 5 years ago.

ya these would be good reasons to leave. ogden and wsu student body do not deserve rahe. i dont think u can argue against that point. when rahe could have gone to boise it was for similar money he currently makes.

i hope rahe stays and doesn't apply but he has never been in a position where he turned down double or triple the pay like Hil may have done yester.

what would you do?

well he said a 100 times how much him and his family loved logan. i think it is the one school he would leave for i think. would you take employment in provo to do your same job for double or triple the pay? :-D

Wow!

Two towns mentioned here, Logan and Provo. NO. I wouldn't take any amount offered to live in the arm pits of Utah. I might commute in for a few hours, but I would want the heck out of there right away.

I believe that Rahe has family in Boise and Fort Collins. I can see why he would consider those. He took a lateral move to get out of Logan.

I think you are all getting your panties in a knot over nothing.

Reliable source tells me that Weber State head coach Randy Rahe will not take Stew Morrill's position if offered.

Great points have been added here.

PROS:
Top program in the Conference
Chance to win the Conference every year
Best facilities in the Conference and improvements being added annually
Possibility that a basketball practice arena might be built in the next few years
Most important program at the school
The players here and those coming in
Weber gave him a chance
He has had great success here
USU is no where near the top in the MW...USU is possibly the 5 or 4 best in the league and not a top location for recruits.
USU can't get the recruits needed to compete in the MW
Weber can get the recruits needed to compete at the same level as lower level MW teams and to win the Sky
Rahe has never beat BYU
Rahe would be following Stew. Nobody really remembers Jared Quayle but every one remember JC Carroll. Jared's teams were better...
Rahe's family and kids are settled here in Ogden

CONs:
USU can pay a lot more...double his salary from what I've heard.
MW vs. Big Sky (MW can get multiple teams in the Dance)
Stew got paid 25K for instate wins, I'm sure this would continue. Better bonuses
Rahe knows Logan and has lived there in the past. He loved it.
He has said in the past, that he would love to coach at USU, after Stew.
Student body that actually cares
Fans and community that support him with season tickets and donations.
A MARKETING DIRECTOR who would actually try to get butts in the seats, sponsorships, and overall support
(none of our coaches like the current WSU Sports Marketing guy, why Bovee doesn't cut the cord, who knows)
Nice facilities and administrative support.
Basketball practice facility

There could be a lot more that I'm missing on either list. Just a start...

If I was Bovee...I'd be doing three things.
1. Figuring out those things Randy wants to keep him here.
2. Assembling a list of potential candidates just in case.
3. Getting a new Marketing Director.

Add USU is overly obsessed right now with football. USU might want to go in a new direction after 17 years with Stew and knowing the last few years haven't been that great. Rahe runs the same system. Maybe USU pulled a Weber State and asked Stew to step down...kinda like Mac 2.0.

really, usu isnt a top program in the mw? i dont agree
Chance to win the Conference every year
100% disagree unless your point is you dont believe rahe is good enough
Best facilities in the Conference and improvements being added annually
Possibility that a basketball practice arena might be built in the next few years
Is this for real?
Most important program at the school
The players here and those coming in
Weber gave him a chance
That is nice but how many years of loyalty is needed to bypass this point? 4 yrs? 20 yrs? I think 5 cuts it
He has had great success here

Might be true but the point is your assuming Rahe is a good coach that can build on Stew's program. I beilve he would compete with the top teams in a couple years.
USU can't get the recruits needed to compete in the MW
Rahe is a good recruiter
Weber can get the recruits needed to compete at the same level as lower level MW teams and to win the Sky
Rahe has never beat BYU
But imagine if he had the resources in Logan...
Rahe would be following Stew. Nobody really remembers Jared Quayle but every one remember JC Carroll. Jared's teams were better...

So in theory he could double his salary and not even move potentially.

4,000 vs 52.

1,2,3 are all great reasons
Nice facilities and administrative support.
Basketball practice facility

obviously i hope he doesn't even apply. i think i would go into a deep depression to see rahe come to ogden next year and beat weber in the dee. i just think its ridiculous to assume there is no obvious reasons for rahe to consider usu or apply. (but please don't rahe)

i hope rahe retires at wsu. he could still coach 4 years and retire before age 60 if he wanted. he would be the winningest coach in big sky history, most titles....etc. not a bad bag o'tricks to retire with.
