Will Vandals become biggest rival?

I think we play them the next couple years. Will they be our best rivalry? I read their message board and it seems ugly up there. Lots of questions about the coach starting his son. Welcome to the Big Sky-

I hope so! The U of I has fans here in eastern Idaho. Their games are on the radio here and their coaches show is too. I bet the visitors side will be filled to the level of what Montana and Montana State bring when the Vandals visit Holt Arena next fall.

Rivalries are made, over time, and are perceived by both teams. ISU is a generation away from any rivalry talk. Visitors SIDE? Last time I looked, sections M and N were reserved for the 'other' fans. At best, 1,500- 2,000 fans sit there, others fill-in the huge gaps of unsold seats on the north side. Look at total attendance, for these 'big' games, subtract usual attendance and you get a clearer picture. Just checked the figures, and four whole home games with attendance of 5942, 5762, 7279, and 7105, the last two were 'big' draw' games. A 1200-1500 increase over Tweedle Dee U and Twiddle Dumb U. Hope Idaho fans, and there are many, flock to Pokey and make their presence known. Over the past few years, Idaho has claimed about 12,000 per game attendance, despite photographic proof that UI and ISU showed up in about equal numbers. Obscure since '96, ended up thrown out of the Sun Belt Conference, it will be a breath of fresh air for their fans. I wouldn't hold your breath about Petrino. His ego is too big to fit into Holt Arena. Big brother will provide him a cover job in Louisville in the near future. Stay tuned. Demoted to HC of a FCS team, NEVER!

Speaking of the Vandellas, there is some scuttlebutt on their board that one of their lineman, Zion Dixon out of Lake City, requested a transfer to ISU but was refused. I guess since they're back in the Big Sky next year, they might have a valid argument to deny it.
