Thanks everyone! I'm expecting a good game at the very least!
Just for an overview of our team
Pg: Jordan Taylor is our best player. Senior leader on and off the court, he'll be the go-to player with the clock winding down nearly every time. Arguably the strongest point guard in the country (look at his arms and try and tell me otherwise), he can finish in the lane and doesn't drive as much as last year. He isn't the best defender we have on the perimeter (Gasser), but we'll see what happens.
SG: Josh Gasser is a sophomore and somebody you probably won't have to worry about. Great rebounding guard and a decent shooter/driver when he wants to be. He sometimes lack the confidence to be able to go after the basket, but typically does well when he chooses to do so. Best defender, all B10.
SF: Ryan Evans has improved the greatest out of all of the players on our team. Originally a red-shirt with very raw skills, he's extremely athletic and has been learning how to drive. He's about 6 foot 5 I believe and has a good mid-range jumper. Not the best rebounder, but getting better. Has a flat top comparable to Kid N' Play. Hasn't played basketball for a long time, but has come a long way. He's the only one on our team that I would cringe if he shot the 3.
PF: Mike Bruisewitz has completely fallen off the band wagon. We like to refer to him as somebody who will do a little bit of everything or our "glue guy". He'll rebound, dive after loose balls, and had a haircut comparable to Sideshow Bob last year http://www.thesportsbank.net/core/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/bruesiwitz.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Recently he's lost all confidence in his 3-point shot and hasn't scored for a while. Don't expect him to be on the floor for a long time.
C: Jared Bergrenn is our center. About 6 foot 11 and another improved player. He plays great defense, top 2 3-point shooting threat, and will take his man off the dribble and score. We're talking Cody Zeller/John Hensen here as well.
Coming off the bench:
Rob Wilson-2 guard. He's a senior who never saw the court all that much since Sophomore year. Recently, he's been getting a lot more time and it came to fruition when he dropped 30 on Indiana :! He will also be our most aggressive penetrator and plays decent defense. Has the tendency to do dumbheaded mistakes. Has been getting a lot of Bruiser's minutes as of late
Frank Kaminsky-Center. He's a Freshman who backs up Bergerenn. He can also shoot the 3 and plays decent defense. We expect him to be pretty good by the end of his career.
Ben Brust-2 guard Sophomore. He was a huge 3-point threat at the beginning of the year, went 7 for 7 against UNLV. Defensive liability, likely you won't really see him.
And that's about it. Trademarks of Wisconsin is we play tough defense and we don't ever turn the ball over. I mean ever, that includes against North Carolina, Ohio State, you name it. We take advantage of aggressive teams and will force you to play half-court offense and we will never run it. We don't look impressive because we set the game of basketball back 40 years according to Doug Gottlieb who is a "sports journalist". We run into problems with teams that are big on interior offense, can play defense for extended periods of time without wearing down, excessively athletic/long teams (North Carolina and Michigan State), and teams that shut down the cutting lane. I expect to win, but that's why they play the game!
