Would Coach Rahe take the Oregon State job?

I have seen Coach Rahe's name mentioned in a few places as a candidate for the Oregon State job. Other top candidates included our own Ben Howland and Damon Stoudamire.

Supposedly Howland already turned down a few jobs this year that to me were better jobs than Oregon State.

Stoudamire is an Oregon native and a respected Asst Coach at Arizona.

Then both Coach Rahe and Wayne Tinkle were mentioned as possibilities.

I'm sure Coach Rahe will be contacted. I just think that Oregon State is a no-win situation. Sure they could probably pay him more. But OSU is tough place to recruit to for basketball and has outdated facilities. It's a tough place to be successful in a tough Conference with national powers such as Arizona and UCLA.

Though the pay would be better, to me, a move to Oregon State would almost be taking a step back from Weber. The only advantage I could see would be more exposure in the Pac-12 and an increase in salary.

The reality is that someday Coach Rahe will most likely get an offer he can't refuse. I just can't see this one as that offer...

Don't be ridiculous, of course he would take it. Oregon State is paying Robinson $4 million NOT to coach the next three seasons. No way any Big Sky coach turns down a PAC-12 job. But it's highly unlikely any gets the opportunity, particularly after Ken Bone crashed and burned at Wazzu

OSU is cash strapped, program is in shambles. Rahe wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Tinkle on the other hand, Tinkle wants to get the hell out of Montana & his son to play for him as well. Tinkle feels the scorn of 2nd fiddle behind the admins unabashed support (monies) and football first attitude.

With all the problem children at Montana right now, it would be perfect timing for Tinkle to jump ship at UM.
Wayne is in a bit of a no win situation at UM right now. The fans have high expectations and he really doesn't have the horses for it. He could probably do quite well at Oregon State. The expectations are a little more reasonable there. :twocents:
