Track and Field, especially on the women's side is developing nicely. I hope the goal is to develop more the men's side too. The tennis program is, too, being developed seriously, I think, for the first time.

Are we becoming a more serious athletics program? The situation seems to be certainly trending that way. Let's keep going developing these programs up, with others to follow. :)

Go Viks!!

You're right, Broadway, Ronnie's done a consistently good job developing the women runners and jumpers. Field events are harder to recruit? The women's team in the top 3-4 of the Big Sky now. And tennis is definitely improving.

Wow. And now Portland State has its first ringer in Women's Tennis, Oregon's top-rated HS player,

Taylor Rees.

Why do you suppose she opted for Portland State? I think it has a lot to do with the athletics program signaling its intention to be a considerably more serious program.

Oregon State is in a small town and some people don't care for the small town scene. Eugene is isolating, too far away from friends and family, if one prefers to have social continuity over "going away for college" and building it up there.

She'll be a Lincoln HS grad and she's right in her element. She dovetails right in.

May the coaching staff develop her well.
