WSU #20 should be suspended.

Total Busch League cheap-shot by that guy on a defenseless receiver, and then talked smack. Should have been ejected immediately, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Pac-12 suspends him.

Should've been thrown out, no doubt. But he'll certainly be suspended when that is reviewed. If I'm not mistaken, Leach pulled him after that and never let him back in.

Herd looked totally stopped and looked like he led with this head.
With all the rules for protection he deserves at least a two or three game suspension.
I hope Leach takes care of it on his own! If he does I would regain some respect for Cougar Nation.

That play was a complete Busch league cheap shot. With all the concerns about concussions nowadays I wouldn't be surprised if Herd is out for a while even if he is ok. But, it was one play by one kid and I don't think it necessarily is representative of the Cougar program or will be accepted by their coach.

It turned my stomach to watch none the less and I hope Herd is ok.

If Leach has any class he will take action before the conference does. In this day when player safety is a focus there is special emphasis on cheap shots like this. No place for it at any level, especially collegiate level.

Good wishes for a quick and complete recovery for Greg. I'm confident that everyone involved will put his well being first. I echo the comments about how disturbing that play was ... no place for it. There's two other young men from games across the country in the hospital with spine or neck injuries as a result of the normal pace of play (prayers for them) and we certainly don't need to add malicious acts to rachet up the danger.

I couldn't help but notice that there was no mention of this in the Spokesman despite several acticles and blurbs about the game. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised but I thought it rated a comment from a journalist aspect. It put one of our top receivers out of the game (perhaps for more than one), if there's any justice, it should result in a suspension of that player, and it would have been nice to get an update on the Greg's condition but apparently there was no analysis or comments about it.

According to the rag know as the Spokesman-Review Deone Bucannon was on the field during the last play of the game. I think this gives us a good idea of what Mike Leach is about. Not only did he not send Bucannon to the locker room, he allowed him to continue playing. Apparently Pirate Boy is OK sending the message to his team that cheap shots are acceptable. This is just pitiful behavior that hopefully either the Pac 12 or the NCAA will see fit to punish WSU.

82...which article in the review mentioned Buccanon went in on the last play? link?

never mind found it...by his own words he was in on the last play http://www.spokesman.com/blogs/sportslink/2012/sep/08/video-deone-bucannon/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here's the hit...many say from Coug Nation say it was bad...some say it wasn't. Looks cheap to me.

Bucannon is a F*n scumbag. Hope GH is OK...that was an ugly shot.

That said, I'm happy you lost. Ewu could be pretty tough this year if you can find a decent QB.

I suppose the same could be said for the cougs ! Only it's not just a QB they need help with !

that was a vicious hit and late for sure but I doubt it was intentional, just a hit that should not have been made. i dont know if it warrants a suspension but I've seen players suspended for less. either way I hope GH has a speedy recovery.

In this day and age, a late hit (especially one THAT late) with a headshot that results in a concussion is like a triple play of NCAA sanctions. If it was just one of the three, you'd probably get 15 yards and that'd be all. But it was ALL three... late, intentional headshot (the "leaving the feet variety" that'll get you multigame suspensions in the NFL and NHL), and caused a head injury. Not going to fly, probably ever, but especially in the henpecked modern world where head safety is paramount.

What's the use sending someone off for a badly strapped helmet if you're going to tolerate such a major violation of rules? One is like a speeding ticket and the other is like mass murder in the world of football penalties.

I think if you view the clip carefully you'll see that Bucannon changes his position just before the hit in order to make a head strike and immediately after the hit he claps his hands. I think this is convincing evidence that his actions were intentional and that he's not remorseful as has been reported by the Cougar press.

Keep in mind this is not first time Bucannon has committed a vicious late hit.

He's a punk and the Pac-12 needs to deal with it swiftly and severely. There are a surprising number of Coug fans at CF.com that agree. Of course, with WSU there are also the "Coog" fans that think it was a well executed defensive play...

yeah I hear what your sayin and and after watching it in slow mow it does look pretty bad. but I think in these situations you have to give the player the benefit of the doubt that even though the hit was late it probably wasnt done maliciously.

In 2009 EWU LB Kyle Wilkins was suspended for this hit on Weber's Tim Toone. Which is worse?

Found him the last two drives of the game. We'll be fine. :coffee:

+1 and I would add that Adams will get more looks as well. Especially when we are up 3-4 TD's in the upcoming games.
