Any one have any more info about our recruiting for next season other than the following?

Players signed so far
Kyle Bullinger (6-6, 200 Forward) from Mountain View, WY
Josh Cottle (5-9, 160 Guard) from Heber City, Utah
Darin Mahoney (6-8, 215 Forward) from Heber City, Utah
Trevor Morris (6-9, 230 Center) from Nampa, Idaho
Kellen McCoy (5-7, 180 Guard) from Norman, Oklahoma

Bullinger and Morris are currently in high school.
Cottle and Mahoney are each currently serving missions and will return this Summer. Cottle played one season at UVSC prior to serving his mission.

Kellen McCoy 5'7" 180 lbs. He averaged 19.4 pts, 5.5 rebs and 4.8 assists at Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa this season.

I am also wondering about Sol Jensen (Viewmont High 2005), he signed with WSU before his mission but since then his brother Andy became the head coach of Northwest College. Does anyone know if he is going to keep his commitment to WSU. Sol is the brother of Andy and Alex Jensen.

I have no information on Jensen. Unless he's an academic casualty, I can't see him enrolling at Northwest to play for his brother. He was recruited as a DI talent, so it would be strange for him to drop down to the JC level.

If memory serves me correctly, I think both Mahoney and Cottle played a year at UVSC, so both will be sophomores. If I’m wrong, pleas let me know.

I think that Rahe has landed a stud in Nate Brumfield. As mentioned above he will sit this year, go to school at WSU, and try to get his grades in order. Once he gets his grades in order he will be an impact player for you guys. He played at Hutchinson CC which is in one of the best JUCO leagues in the country. USU has had some good players come from Hutch, most recently Durrall Peterson and Steve DuCharme. Brumfield average 17 pts and 7 boards a game. He is 6'4" and 235lbs. He loves to play around the hoop, despite his height. He is a tough player and does all the dirty work that many players refuse to do. I think in 2 years, pending qualification, Brumfield will make an big impact on the Big Sky.

I don't think McCoy's size will be an issue. Rahe has had great success recruiting small PG's. He recruited both Bernard Rock and Mark Brown to USU and they were both very good players. McCoy needs to buy into Rahe's system and be a good floor general. That offense doesn't require the PG to be a number 1 or 2 scoring option. Just don't turn the ball over, play scrappy D, set your teammates up as the become open in the flow of the offense, and hit the shot as it comes back out to you from one of your bigs. If McCoy doesn't worry to much about his own shot then he will be a good PG for Weber. In JC ball he shot 44% from the field and 40% from behind the arc, those numbers could be a little higher but he took a lot of shots cause he was the team's main scoring threat. Rahe is a great recruiter and has pulled several diamonds from the rough for USU, expect the same at Weber.

I would guess Rahe's biggest diamond would be JC Carroll!!

U of U just released Daniel Deane, would WSU be interested in him? He has potential to be a big time player if he can get his accademics inline.

From what our A.D. told me WSU wasn't lookin to pick up any UofU players who might be leaving the program after their new coach got hired...but u never know.

Also Coach Rahe is pretty big on signing players who are good students.

Check back in a week n we should have another update on the recruiting status.

Why, when a player verbally commits, don't we make them sign something right then and there? Is there some rule against that or something?

Scholarships are all filled, let the the scrubs go, if they weren't good enough for a scholarship they probably weren't going to play anyway.

I don't think it was that they weren't good enough for scholarships, I think we just didn't have anymore to give. I can totally see why these guys chose to go somewhere else, especially if they were offered scholarships.

(2 walk-on players from laster yr were given scholarships for this year - Burningham & Benson)

Johnnie Mclawhorn never even gave a verbal commitment. And he never was coming here because heis not even close to being academicly eligible.
