WSU GAMES ON 1280 THE ZONE:Weber State has reached a partnership with 1280 KZNS Radio "The Zone" to broadcast WSU football and men's basketball games this coming season. The Zone will be the exclusive radio home for the Wildcats and will air all football and men's basketball games live.

"We are very excited to have our games broadcast on 1280 The Zone," said WSU Athletic Director Jerry Bovee. "We feel this is a great opportunity for us to increase our exposure, and our fans will enjoy hearing our games on 1280 the Zone. We're also excited for the ways they will help promote Wildcat athletics."

Carl Arky, longtime play-by-play voice of the Wildcats, will continue to broadcast all of Weber State's football and men's basketball home and away games. A pregame and postgame show will continue to be a part of every WSU game. In addition, The Zone will air a weekly coaches show and will have an increased football pregame show, which will include tailgating at all football home games.

The Zone is an all-sports radio station in Salt Lake City that has covered Utah sports for many years. In addition to being aired on 1280, many of WSU's games will be simulcast on 104.7 on the FM dial, further increasing the coverage of the Wildcats. The games will also be available live online at 1280thezone.com.

The 2011 Weber State football season will begin Sept. 3 when the Wildcats play at Wyoming.

 I had nothing against KLO but this means much better exposure. And it's nice to be on a real sports talk station. And I really like this: "In addition, The Zone will air a weekly coaches show and will have an increased football pregame show, which will include tailgating at all football home games." I just hope they keep Brad, Dutch, and that sideline reporter off the radio.

Who cards about AM it isn't 1960's, being on FM now is huge for us. Quality reception now when we are away from the Internet.

is this big for us? or just a change of frequency.
I think this is a huge deal for WSU sports, lets face it most people had no idea where to find WSU games on the radio, meanwhile 1280 the Zone is one of Utah's premiere sports radio networks. WSU will also now be on crystal clear FM radio, and also the sound quality for those listening online will also be MUCH better. This is a GREAT move for WSU :thumb:

What about the main subject of this article? Surely this isn't a scholarship is it? It says 2011-2012 season so surely this is just an invite to walk on right? I hope so. Van Pelt played on the Utah Pump N Run B team.
