Why was Weberski's post removed? I thought it was a valid point. Ord's salary is very high for a first time head coach at the level of athletics that we play. :bad: Shame!

Big Sky Mens Program Head Coaches

Northern Colorado HC BJ Hill $85,000
Sac State HC Brian Katz $90,000
EWU HC Jim Hayford $90,000
ISU HC Joe O'brien $102,000 (separate media stipend)
Weber St. Women's 1st year HC BethAnn Ord $105,000
Montana St. HC Brad Huse $109,000
PSU HC Tyler Geving $120,000
NAU HC Mike Adras $120,000
Montana HC Wayne Tinkle $122,000 (current ongoing pay incentive negotiations & 3 yr extension)
Weber St. HC Randy Rahe $275,000

Salary to salary comparisons are not that valid. It would be slightly better to compare contracts. What you are missing is shoe and appearal contracts, media, camps, speaking, and other types of side deals that coaches get. Salary actually means very little. Many of the deals that coaches and universities make are never available to the public, like salaries are. I'm sure that if you were to look at some high level contracts, you would find many who show a salary of $1.00 per year. It means absolutely nothing.

What I am saying is if you know a comparison between a candy bar and a hydrogen bomb is not valid, why publish it at all. What is your point? Are you trying to say that salaries are too high, too low, not fair, or are you just trying to appear uninformed? :stir:

Are you kidding me? The women's basketball coach would not be making dick off of all that other crap. She's a women's basketball coach of a lousy program in a below average conference. Her salary DOES actually mean something. It means everything. And even if she was making money off of side deals, then she would be making $110K+. As per the Standard, Ord is making $105,000 a year. I believe the Standard because her salary is public record. And hell yes its too damn high!

I'm not saying she has any side deals. I'm saying that you don't know what deals the other coaches have. You just think a salary is too high because you are comparing it to what you make as a gas station attendant. Give it up. Your sour grapes aren't doing anyone any good. Your opinion is just like mine. It only matters to us and everyone else equates it to an arm pit. Everones got 'em, and they all stink.

Come In oldrunner.... BJ Hill, Katz, & Hayford couldn't get a street taco sponsorship deal for more than $5 bucks.

My opinion as a tax payer, alum, and fan does matter. And I'm not the only one with that opinion.

So, you are saying that because she's a she, she shouldn't be allowed to make more than any man, any where? I'm glad that our coaches are percieved to make more than the other coaches in our league. That's the way it should be. We are the best and we should pay the best for the best. I get encouragement from that. I'm not envious of what others make. I'm happy for them.

If she was a he I would absolutely feel the same way. And hard to argue she is the best when this is her 1st head coaching job and her team stinks.

OK, Mr SWCat; you are a tax payer and you obviously believe in public disclosure. Tell us all who you are, where you work and what your salary is. We all want to compare ours to yours. It's only fair, right?

I'm not paid with tax dollars, jackass. Remember I work at a gas station.

Your gas station has, most certainly, been subsidised by my tax dollars either directly or indirectly over the years. There is no business out there that hasn't benefited from tax breaks or subsidies in one way or another. So, fess up man.

No, it's called true market value for the position. If women's basketball brought in as much cash or was as successful as the men's programs she would be paid the same. But the fact of the matter is that women's basketball isn't. There is no way to justify a first year women's head coach with no prior NCAA coaching experience to be paid more than long time Big Sky men's basketball coaches.

That's why I'm voting for Mitt Romney, he says he'll make government tied salaries comparable to salaries in the private sector. Government employees shouldn't be allowed to get grossly overpaid on the taxpayers' dime. :rule:
