wsufan99 said:Yep I know all about Kupp.
Here is the quick scoop
QB: Falk is special, that is the only way I can put it.
RB: By far the deepest and might be most talented position on the offense(yes that is the truth). Leach has a really good RB coach and these kids are big, fast and all have WR hands, that is why they are at WSU. Last years #3 back was moved to inside WR as the RS Freshman who was supposed to be good, turned out to be really good. Can't wait to see him play
.
OL: Lost 2 one to the NFL, but his replacement started 4 games for him after he was hurt vs Stanford. Really liked him at practice, very athletic. Other is a mountain of a human 6 8 354lbs. Other three are back and they line should be very solid.
WR: lots of them and very tall on the outside less Marks, the rest are 6 4 or taller.
DL: Not as big as last year, both nose tackles go 305, 320, DT are about 290 and the DE are 250. But the kids can flat run, that is what the new DC hired last year wanted and now has.
LB: Same as DL, leaned down kids all about 225 to 240, but most rangy 6 3 6 4 less a couple. Some were Safeties at one point, so again they moved speed up. They lost 2 starters last year but have far more speed now and these kids played a ton a year ago so not knew to them.
DB: By far the deepest part of the entire team, lost 1 in entire 2 deep. When Leach arrived the DB's were like watching cement cure the majority were so slow. I was shocked at the speed they have now. They will be a tough match up people this year as a whole I think.
Punter: yikes, still can't figure out how they can't find one.
Kicker: Good, big leg and accurate
That is it in a nutshell. Expectations are high after the 9 wins and with the amount of players returning on both sides of the ball, this could be a very good football team. They lost 3 players in the 2 deep on offense and 4 in the 2 deep on defense as they were really young last year.
Most importantly beer being sold in stadium during games everywhere, whoo hooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After Portland State disaster they learned a powerful lesson and if not for a missed 45 yard FG with no time left vs Stanford they would won 8 of their next 9 and played in the PAC 12 title game, damn that hurt. But not as much as not having Falk, Marks, , and Cracraft vs UW, just a different team without them.

Rafter_Reese said:Just heard Leach say that he thinks EWU's "1st level guys" are as good as WSU's first team. I'm going to assume he's talking about EWU's offense. I get the fact that he has to say all the right things to the media, but he usually says what's on his mind and quite frankly I would have to agree with him. Kupp gets all the attention, and rightfully so. But guys like Nic Splendorio who is a River Cracraft clone, and Kendrick Bourne who reminds me of Dom Williams from last year's WSU's squad are going to equally impress Coug fans. These guys get overlooked and could start for a lot of west coast teams...and I'm talking about the Pac 12 kind. I can see them giving the Cougar defense fits, even with your solid secondary. There's more guys I could name, and I think we'll hear from them too on Saturday.
All this being said, the Cougs could easily run away with this one because their offense is a thing of beauty with a great general in control of it. Our defense most likely won't be able to slow WSU down and that's where the Eags run into problems. I don't see many Pac 12 teams slowing them down either. We will need to trade score for score for EWU to have a chance in this one. I'm thinking about the UW game we lost a couple years back 59 to 52. It will most likely need to look like that game for us to have a chance. Throw in +2 on turnovers for the Eags and I think it could be a game. Going +2 will be a tall task for the Eagles though. Time will tell. Really looking forward to this one. WSU has really got things going in the right direction and they have my respect. I'll be there cheering on the Eags!
go Eags!

Why is Mike Leach such a weird character?

Truth be told, we don't really have an idea of what kind of team we have this year and may not know much until game 3 as we play WSU and 4 x defending champions NDSU back to back.
WSU is probably a 3 TD favorite in this game.
