Who should be our QB for this weeks game?

None of the QB's were effective. Of the 3 we saw the least of what Barnes can do, other than provide easy points for the opponent. He had 5 passing attempts, completed 1 to his team. Higgins looked good at times, the play action pass to Trevyn Smith was probably the nicest passing play we had all day. Even Doyle looked good at times, but they have to get the ball into the endzone.

I think we need to give Barnes another chance and I hope he has learned from his mistakes. It's time to step up and be the leader he should be otherwise it is going to be a rough game up at UM.

I think Barnes needs to sit until he will drink the same kool-aide as the rest of the team, in other words he needs to completely buy into what Ronnie Mac is selling. He has bought in on some things, but not everything. Also "Goldenboy Barnes" needs to loose about 25lbs so he isn't so freaking slow. Play Higgins or Doyle until Barnes is ready to prove that he is the man and that he is a leader.

Barnes needs time but I think it goes deeper than just the QB's I thinks its the QB coach and offensive coordinator/ play calling. Let face it, most every passing play looked like crap, when they did work it seems like a miracle, and if I see that stupid play that passes right to the flat again I will personally call Kevin McGiven and tell that the play doesn't work. They've tried it every game and it always ends with the same result minus 2 or 3 yards at best or in last games case intercepted for a TD. Sure the QB throw the pass but give me a break, the play sucks. One thing that we can't do is play the QB game. Last season Pizario should have never lost the starting job sure he played bad against Cal Poly so we give Woods the start for SUU(the game where any QB would look good because Smith play outstanding). The SUU game would have been a great game for Pizario and offense to gain confidence but no the coaches had to be tough and stick to their stupid decision. Personally, before next game I would like to see the MeGiven gone and Don Bailey be the OC he has a lot more experience and a good track record to prove it. Final thoughts Doyle needs to start just because he has the most game experience.

I completely agree with your opinion on McGiven and his love of that stupid pass. Why in the crap when it's 4th and goal from the 16 do you call that stupid play? Sure it works like a charm on the video games, but in real life against the #18 team, COME ON!! It is never going to go for 16 yards and a touchdown. As far as Pizario, he wasn't a quarterback either, Graybeal never had a real good quarterback because he couldn't recruit a real quarterback. Our offense has sucked ever since the pass happy Arslanian era left town. Bring in Dave Stierman or Rich Erickson as OC.

Last night on the Coaches show Mac said that Higgins would get the start for this weeks game. I don't think that it a ever a good idea to give the start to a red shirt freshman with very little game time experience. The only advantage it gives us is that U of M will have no clue really what to plan for. Nothing against Higgins but I don't think that he's ready for it yet.

Having 4 offensive coordinators in the past 3 years has killed us. I agree that McGiven has done a poor job on the play calling and should throw out that pass to the flat, how about a screen play instead, haven't seen one of those in awhile. I hope he mixes in more option, spread offense short passes to help Higgins this week.

I would expect to see some option run against UM. However, Higgins can't throw the ball down-field. He is good for a 5-10 yard pass, but his long passes are wounded ducks. Higgins made some mental mistakes against the Bozcats but I think that if given the same situation again, he would run the ball into the end zone instead of trying to force a pass. BTW Barnes HATES the weight-room. He will sit until he does drink the same kool-aid as everybody else.
