WSU vs. EWU Eagles

EWU is ranked as high as 18th in some polls, should be a great game. I'll have to think for a few days before my prediction.
On second thought,
WSU 38
EWU 31
GO WILDCATS!!!

We are a team of destiny, 6-5 and a tie for 2nd would be awesome after having a tough schedule to start the season.

WSU 27
EWU 24

Last second field goal by WSU wins the game...

Oh god NO!!! I can not take that again, ISU vs. Weber last year was won that way, and it about killed me.

This should be one hell of a game. I fear this game more than I did the NAU game last week. Weber has had our # in Cheney and that alone should get the attention of our team. I gather that no one in Cheney and EWU is saying this is the bag by any means. How many of you Wildcaters will be making that long trip to Cheney for the game? We have been drawing poor crowds this season and that is surprising because of the success of the team. Looking forward to this one on Saturday and it will be bitter cold and rainy. Go Eagles!!!

Eagle1,

And everyone else, what is that reason that WSU has been successful in Cheney for football as of late? I think normally EWU wouldn't be worried about WSU except for the fact that we have one our last couple their and also the fact that we have won 5 of our last 6 games.

Not to mention we lost close ones to both UM and NAU.

So if WSU wins will NAU likely get in to the tournament? What if EWU beats us, then what?

I will be flying in on Sat morning for the game and I think it will be a great battle. Both teams have a lot of motivation for this one. I am excited to explore the area as I have never been to Spokane. Any suggestions?

If you like to golf, and have the time, try the Indian Canyon course. I played it a number of years ago, and loved it. It is challenging, but the course is beautiful!!

It is not exactly going to be good golfing weather (40's and rainy) but Spokane has some of the cheapest and best golf courses in the US. WSU fans definitely need to take in some Eagle tailgating in the upper parking lot. After the game, fans should head to Spokane for dinner at one of the areas best resturants (Spencers) for steaks or seafood. If you want to have a drink in Cheney then the either the Basement or Eagles Pub is the place to be following the games.

As far as the reason that the Wildcats have been so successful in Cheney, I am not sure if it is just one thing but a combination of various things. I think that Weber doesn't like EWU in Football as well as Basketball. I am not sure if the recent rivalry between the two basketball programs has spilled out on the football field but it sure seems that Weber is really up for us every year in football. That is just my observation. Have safe travels to those coming up for the game and we shall see who survives on Saturday. Go Eagles!!!

One reason for the recent rivalry, is that our AD Graybel was an assistant coach at EWU for a while before he became the head coach at WSU. Whenever we played EWU it was a huge game for us because coach knew all the coaches up there. I guess it has continued with Coach McBride, for some unusal reason. It also could be, because we have been playing EWU late in the season for the past few years and wanted to end the season on a high note. Who Knows... Sorry Eagle 1, Go Cats! Tim Toone will have another four TD game.

As Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast my friend". I see Matt Nichols throwing for over 300 yards and our defense displaying the bend but dont break scheme. Should be a good one. Go Eagles!!!

Bend but do not break is a great D to run aginst teams that do not have running backs, but in the words of Steven A. Smith: HOWEVER, Weber has the best Runner in the Big Sky in Smith, this guy is a gamer, and is the problem when you set up a bend but do not break d. He will be that final push for the break.

You guys up there have a good football team. Too bad your bball team is going to be in the basement this year.

While holding a pencil toward the camera, Lee would say, "No more cupcakes (Mont. Western, UC-Davis, BYU) Eastern Washington! Bring on a real team, Weber State!" Then he would go on to something else like, "Hawaii doesn't win many games in the United States!"

I agree that Smith is one of the best if not the best backs in the Big Sky but we have improved dramatically against the run this year. It is true that our basketball team will definitely take their lumps this year but they picked up their first win last night against UC Riverside. They will surprise some teams in the Big Sky but I am not ready to annoint them as a contender. Go Eagles!!!

There is no doubt that T Smith will be the difference in the game, he has proven all season that his the best in the sky and I don't see why this game will be any different. The way I see it, Weber has nothing to loose and can take some risks if need. Nichols will probably have a good game but will fail to have any type of running game, and it takes a good balance attack to beat us.
