WSU vs UNC, Part 2

I guess we shouldnt be forgetting or overlooking NAU but....

UNC game is gonna be huge!!

Anyone know if Will Figures is out? Will he play this week? He left the game on Sunday vs NAU due to either an ankle or knee injury, he did walk off the court by himself but I don't think he returned to the game.

Will Figures should be playing but I'm more concerned if Taylor Montgomery isn't able to go. He has missed the past 2 games with a knee injury and is probably our biggest body on the boards. I think this is going to be a huge game, but UNC and WSU should not over look ID State or NAU..both of those games are just as big.

Agreed, Although Weber vs UNC is definetely a highlight, every game from here on out is just as important and just as big as all the other ones. NAU is dangerous, you can pretty much throw our 25 point victory down thier away, because NAU is a much better team right now. UNC is of course probably one of the most talented in the league, Weber will need to play thier A-game if they want to win that game. Idaho State is struggling, but they are our rivals, and they will want revenge from the loss we gave them, that in all aspects should have been a win for them, they will be mad. EWU and Portland State are interesting games, In all aspects Weber should be able to win those games easily, but for some reason my heart tells me that they will both be very tough games, especially the Portland State game on Sunday.

The hunt for the BSC Crown will be interesting.

Oh and im not sure whether or not you have been here before, but if you havent, Welcome to the board bearsden123 :)

Thanks for the welcome Wildcat it' always a pleasure discussing BSC Sports with fans who know what they are talking about.

Gonna be a fun game having UNC fans at the game.

he has missed the last 2 and is expected to miss this week too. Will Figures also had an ankle injury on Sunday but will be playing and we should expect him to be 100% or close to that.

Men's basketball heads off to Pocatello and Ogden

Northern Colorado notes | Big Sky Conference notes | Idaho State notes | Weber State notes

GREELEY, Colo. -- Two huge games await Northern Colorado men's basketball this weekend in Pocatello, Idaho, and Ogden, Utah.

The Bears, at 19-5 and 8-3 in the Big Sky, sit just a game behind league-leading Weber State (15-8, 9-2) with just five regular-sesaon games remaining in the regular season and will face Idaho State (6-17, 3-8) on Friday night at the Bengals' Reed Gym before turning right around Saturday night and taking on the Wildcats in a head-to-head matchup at the Dee Events Center.

If Northern Colorado is to win its first Big Sky Conference championship this season, success must be had on this much-anticipated road trip. A clean run through Idaho State and Weber State would put the Bears in prime position.

But it won't be easy.

Idaho State has struggled so far this season, but the Bengals do feature one of the league's premeir tandems in Amorrow Morgan and Broderick Gilchrest. And, of course, the game will be played on the road, where Northern Colorado holds just a 2-15 record all-time against Idaho State. The Bears won there in 2008 but before that hadn't wom since 1950.

Then, Saturday night's game figures to be even more difficult. Weber State has won two regular-season conference championships in the last four seasons and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2006-07. And the Wildcats, featuring dynamic player Damian Lillard, are undefeated at home this season in league play.

But, winning conference championships and representing your league on a national level aren't supposed to be easy accomplishments. Northern Colorado knows that, and it knows it's playing for something big on this back-to-back road trip.

For Weber to be successful on Saturday night, the Cats have to do a number of things.

One: Weber's bigs have to show up, which translate into buckets, good solid defense, and rebounds. Panos cannot get into foul trouble and Bull needs to get into a good Rythm early.
Two: Weber needs to limit the movement of their guards off of high screens and curl sets. Beitzel destroyed Weber as much with his speed as with his shot in their first meeting.
Three: Weber needs to be the aggressor and play tough defense for 40min.
Four: Bench Points and Hussel plays.

Boyle is a hell of a coach, he will have his team ready to play no matter what happens on Friday (is Morgan still out? That makes a huge difference). Lets bring it on Sat, so the Bears know what its like, and will never forget, how it is to play in the Dee!

Thank you Bearsden123 for your information! I can't wait to see the DEC full of weber crazies and UNC fans. Always adds a great flavor to the game. Whenever you can get 56 or so loud fans together, from that bus, you can make noise and help your team! I'm proud of UNC for understanding the importance of this game. The DEC is going to be rockin!

Rahe in the desnews on UNC:

"We're playing an excellent basketball team," Rahe said. "We've got a lot of respect for them. We know they're going to be excited coming in here, and I know our kids will be excited, too."

So tonight is the biggest game for each team. If UNC wins they probably wrap up their first BSC and will get the number 1 seed (considering our conference games left are EWU PSU @ SAC st) and if not it will be Weber taking the title down again. I expect each team to have a lot of intensity and I hope that the refs let them play because we all know Big Sky refs have some phantom calls up their sleeve!

"They play hard for 40 minutes. They're the best team in our league, so it feels good to get them on our court."

We need this double-U badly. Then it is the sack of potatoes coming next week to the Dee Events Center. When I was a student back in the 60's and 70's it was a true rivalry. In fact, we had many busses of fans going to Idaho for road games.

Speaking of Idaho State, several years ago, I was talking to a WSU alum, and he said that they also used to take the train up to Pocatello when weber played there.

Great crowd, great game, good atmosphere throughout the whole game, Big Sky Conference Basketball at its finest, everybody in attendance new what was at stake in this game, Im proud of all the 5,800 fans that showed up for keeping energized all game. It was cool to see some Bears fans in the stands, I wonder if there will be any Bengals fans in the Purple Palace next weekend, Panos, Hansen, Lillard, the whole team, what an amazing show put on by this team, well done Weber.

Next week lets beat our rivals again, GO WILDCATS

Before I saw the attendance numbers I would have guessed 7,000. Did anybody else feel like we had more than 5,819 or was it just my bad eye sight.

Your not alone, I didnt think we had 7,000, but it seemed like to me we had at least 6,500. oh well, this is the loudest the Weber state crowd has been all year, and it was for the biggest game of the year.
