This is not good news for college football fans anywhere.

It goes to show how difficult it is to be a DII program on the west coast.

Thanks for the post Jeremy. I've added my email address to their email list.

I think college football fans everywhere should come to these people's aid. This creates an environment where cutting college football is acceptable. We should not let this start anywhere. Let's help out our fellow Vikings by voicing our support of their efforts to save WWU Football.

How many other schools have just dropped football like that over the last 10 years? Here's a list, compiled by the folks who want to reinstate Santa Clara's program, which shows the trend toward adding football: http://www.letthemplay.com/add-drop-1.htm

Can the costs of running a D-II program really be that prohibitive considering they play other NW schools twice per year?

Some pretty interesting conversation on that board. The way the talk it seemed inevitable that football would be dropped, why is what I don't understand, they did not seem like a program that would tank among they success they have had as of late.

Some commentary in the Everett Herald...

Thanks VikThunder for your support in our battle to keep football at Western Washington University.
We could use and appreciate all the support we can get. Thanks again.

Impressive effort by WWU Football supporters. They've been able to get a bill introduced in the State Legislature calling for a review of WWU's decision to drop the program.
