Who's planning on going to Laramie in September? I like our chances against the Pokes. Lets get a good crowd of UNC fans up there!

As of right now I and about 3 others are planning on it . I also like our chances, barring injuries. If everyone holds up and especially the OL, I have been envisioning Lobato throwing 3 TD's And the Defense throwing a shutout!! How about that for optimism ??

I just hope we get a win with the NAIA team week 1 and the DII team week 2. Then we might just have a chance to beat them. If we lose either of those 2 games it might look bad for the rest of the whole year.

We certainly can't overlook Langston and CSU Pueblo, especially the Wolf pack. That's a good RMAC, anything can happen.

Does anyone know if there's an alumni event happening prior to kickoff in Laramie?

Definitely don't over look that CSU-pueblo team , a buddy of mine had his kid down their on a recruiting trip and he said they were putting in work! They have a excellent coaching staff with NFL experience on it and it won't be long before some of those guys will be getting offers else where. They had a strong season last year and with you guys breaking in a new QB you better hope your team is not looking past that one. We are looking forward to our game with you  Wyoming will be interesting the only thing that concerns me with D-1 , programs is our depth they seem to be able to wear us down and in the second half and take charge . Although you are the enemy, I support any team from the big sky that's playing a D-1 team :D but when you play SUU , no mercy or compassion from me.

Actually CSU-P is breaking in a new QB. We have a senior QB who has started the past two seasons.

I agree they're better coached, but we will have depth that no RMAC team can match. They're limited to 24 schollies I believe.

Beardown forgive the reference about your Qb , I was actually thinking of another team when I was writing that. You are correct in your statement about your depth but at the same time, when playing teams early especially really solid ones bad things can happen,But you should win that but don't underestimate that particular squad..

It's going to be a tough game for sure. I'm hoping our depth will be enough.

Wyoming generally does not lose to lower division foes, last years win by Cal Poly at Laramie was the first in a long time. They did just barely beat North Dakota State about 3 seasons ago, and struggled against Weber a couple seasons ago, but are 12-0 vs Montana.

Best thing going for the Bears is the fact Wyoming will have no respect for our team, and the fact they travel to Lincoln to play Nebraska the next week after our game.

If we get off to a good start, and give CSU-P a good thumping the second week, I think we will put on a pretty good showing at Laramie, maybe staying within ten or so, but if not better look out. They are much deeper than we are, and a hell of a lot better funded.

Hello All, 1st time posting on the board.

Actually, WYO plays Nebraska the 1st week of the season and perennial doormat Idaho the 2nd week. The UNC game isn't until the 3rd week of the season, which they follow up with a rivalry game at Air Force. Odds are WYO will be coming off a blowout win over Idaho and be looking ahead to Air Force. Most likely they will be overlooking UNC. Strikes me as the perfect opportunity for the Bears to surprise the Pokes and get the upset.

Woops! right you are.

Fact remains, Wyoming through all their struggles to compete within it's own conference which has no national prominence rarely will lose one of these games. I mentioned the Cal Poly game from last year (remember how we did against the Mustangs) and I do remember them being beat by Idaho State back in the mid 70s, might have lost a total of three games to lower division opponents in the last 30+ years. They do not get that many wins in a season, but do seem to win the ones they are supposed to.

I don't think they will overlook this game, they need the home win, and will expect to win.

Plus side is, the local Wyoming attendance for this game is likely to be soft, with plenty of good seats available from season ticket holders. Should have no problem invading Laramie if there is actually enough UNC fans willing to make that 100 mile drive.

I think Wyo is ripe for the upset. They promoted two new co-offensive coordinators from within, to fill the voids created by the mass exodus of coaches last winter. New co-coordinators usually spell trouble for a offense early in a season. To make things worse for Wyo, Christensen (head coach) is going to call the offensive plays on game days. Our defense is experienced and solid, and a sputtering Wyo offense should make it possible for us to keep the score low. Add to that the fact that Wyo gave up 33+ points per game last year, and our experience and playmakers on offense, I like our chances of rolling out of Laramie with the W.

So Wyoming doesn't have a history of losing to FCS teams...except with the current players and coaching staff, who lost to Cal Poly last year and damn near lost to Weber State (35-32) the year before.

Wyoming may have very few losses to FCS teams, but they do have a history over the past few years of barely getting by the FCS teams. The Weber State game 2 years ago isn't an anomaly. I'm not going to guarantee a win, I wouldn't even venture out on the edge and say that the odds are in UNC's favor. I'm just saying that the way the game sets up and where it falls on the schedule does give the Bears a great opportunity for an upset.

I'm sure that Christensen will use last years loss to Cal Poly as a rallying cry going into week 3, but to think that the Wyoming players won't be looking ahead to the Air Force game after the controversy of last years Air Force vs Wyoming game would be a little naive.

In any case, I think it will be a great game and an excellent barometer for the season.

I believe Wyo did not have their starting qb in the loss against Cal Poly. He's a game-changer too, which may have explained why they lost.

The barometer is Southern Colorado, I will reserve my predictions until after that game.

Might have to trek down for that one, and if we do our jobs on the 7th, the next week at Laramie might be another good one to hit. From where I live it is just as easy to go to Greeley is it is to go to Laramie.
