Wyoming 12/22

We've won our last 3 against div one opponents. But those games were in Greeley and those 3 teams have a combined 3-24 record, none with an RPI under 250.

Next up Wyoming, on the road. 88 RPI. Lost by 5 in Boulder.

Wyoming has won an NCAA championship, and also went to the Sweet 16 in '87. Amazing given that it's the least populous state in the Union.

Surprised they lost to a 3-5 DU team. But it was close and they were on the road.

Tomorrow they get a visit from 9-2 SMU, before their match-up with the Centennial University Prairie Dogs.

Ok, I'm starting to come around on changing the mascot to something more appropriate. Given Greeley's reputation as a stinky cowtown and since black angus are the best looking cattle (in my opinion), how about the Cowtown State University Fighting Black Angus Bulls? Tell me that wouldn't intimidate those WY cowpokes

Wyoming lost at home to SMU last night, 62-54. SMU is coached by Larry Brown -- a national champion, NBA champion and Basketball Hall of Famer. Was wondering what happened to him. SMU is now 10-2.

Wyoming has junior Larry Nance Jr., son of 3-time NBA All-Star, inaugural Dunk Champ Larry Nance, who beat out Dr J and Dominque Wilkins. Check this out:

Apparently like father like son as Jr was nominated--as a sophomore--for dunk of the year and made ESPN's top ten plays (here's the video, but I think the pic is more amazing):

Who's going to guard this guy? He had 16 points and 13 rebounds against a better SMU team, his fourth double-double of the season. He was coming off a 38-point, 12-rebound performance in a loss against Denver last week. 38-12! But they did lose that game, so maybe the key is to let him get his and make the rest of the team beat us.

Being on the road, you're always subject to the refs catering to the home crowd. That said, it may be a slim home crowd given the date.

Bottom line: we've gotta shoot well.

Put Husk on Nance, and tell Barden and Unruh to dominate. God willing the real Svihovec shows up.

I would tell Husk this dude Nance Jr has presumably had every luxury in addition to being the son of an NBA father. But you, less esteemed, are going to throttle him. He's not going to score in double digits despite massive attempts. You are the small axe, and he is the big tree.

14-6. I'm the only person watching this? Are you all at Best Buy getting your sig other some electronical situation? The Small Axes have come out on fire against the Big Trees. Continue to chop it up!

Wow, they look great. They have every ability to beat this team but that dude Nance Jr., is a beast. I think this will come down to how many of our guys foul out and if the bench can hold the lead.

I am watching as well. The Mountain West feed is better than anything I have seen the BigSky put out.

I agree but it seems very pixelated and I think I am getting motion sickness... If they win though, it will be worth spending the next hour throwing up...

Is it me, or does this seem to be a little bit one sided as far as the refs go? I saw a Wyoming player give one of our players a flying round house kick to the sternum 18 inches in front of the refs face and no call. I am not a ref basher but at this rate we won't have any players left on the court, they are all going to foul out...

I've been watching bits and pieces and they look really solid. They are playing a lot faster than I've seen in years and the ball movement the best I can remember in years... it's going down to the wire for sure.
