Yikes

The men and women have played a combined 13 games. And only two wins. WTF?

Hopefully the ladies get a win tomorrow. This is alarming. I figured we’d take a step back, but this is ugly.

Riley had a bad habit of starting very season awful before pulling it together for a couple of good months. Then it always fell apart again, but at least there was a glimmer of hope in there. The women obviously are different and were good last season.

I'm surprised the women haven't won more...they've lost some very close games. On the men's side I don't see how the record thus far is surprising. We lost everyone off of last year's team but 4 players. A complete rebuild was be to expected.

Still yikes. This team just falls apart late in every game. Last years’ guys are doing alright at WSU.

I’m still befuddled why Monson didn’t bring any guys with him. Riley liquidated the team when he moved. This team just doesn’t have enough legit talent, and on top of that, don’t seem to show much heart in close games.

I go to many of the womens games as I did on Saturday vs Weber. Weber is a VERY beatable team but when our ladies only hit 1 of 19 from 3 and only shoot 20% overall you are not going to beat any team.
These are D1 players getting scholarships for their skill and can only make 1 of 5 baskets.
Not acceptable.
Maybe this leads to the poor support. I doubt there was actually 500 fans there. I only counted 30 or less students.

Clawman, I've watched most every women's and men's games and tuff to watch especially the women. Hard to see so many unforced turnovers and easy shots missed. Racked it up to not playing together but thought by now there would be improvement. Seems like we have had opportunity's to win only to literally throw the game away. Hopeful in these last 9 games they put it together to bring some mojo into the off season.

The women won 29 games last year, we will probably finish the year with one of the worst year to year declines in number of wins. I wasn't a fan of the Monson hire, I don't think he has much juice left. The changes in college athletics is pushing a lot of coaches to retire earlier. I don't hold the record this year against Monson because Riley took just about everything with him on the way out. EWU doesn't spend NIL money to reload late through the portal. Hopefully Monson can turn things around next year.

Monson had 3 decent players at the Beach and they went onto better destinations compared to good ol' Four Lakes Cheney... Eag's main issue is a lack of inside size, as the game comes closer to the end, if our bigs have foul issues, we are in big trouble. When I say bigs, I am talking about guys playing the 5 position that are actually 4's. Other issue, we cannot knock down the 3 ball, we do not have multiple shooters. Last issue, turnovers, too much 1 on 1 and we lack someone who can set up the offense, we get stagnant and sloppy. Monson has tried multiple line-ups, sat guys, etc., not much he can do with the hand he was dealt. We just need to flush this year and move on. Monson has a good point guard coming in next year, a thick power forward type as well (signed high schoolers). Hopefully he can find some height in the portal and other pieces. Year 3 we can nit pick. Hard to say what will be left after the season, I suspect we will lose a few and possibly 1 or 2 will be in a Cougar uniform (lame).
