Definitely not a fan of this move… you’re the RB coach moving to become a Head Coach, your allegiance needs to change if you really want to start building. There’s nothing left to do at U of A?
Not possible, this doesn't fit "the sky if falling and that's why the coaches are leaving" narrative.

Nothing, going from an FCS ST coach to a G5 ST coach (and current CFP participant JMU) is a promotion. There is the generic "the program is imploding" narratives online surrounding Marion's departure for a better gig. Coach Carter will bring in/retain anyone he so choses. The coaching moves are typical coaching carousel movement IMO.

I still don’t understand the anger regarding Marion’s departure. He was completely transparent, he took a job at a higher level that virtually doubled his pay and potentially put him in a position to be the next HC at Colorado.
Seriously doubt any of the haters would have turned down a similar offer. If any of his assistants can parlay their year at Sac into a better opportunity I applaud them.

Agreed. We all wish the 2025 outcome was better, but if you thought he was here for a dynasty run, you are on drugs.
I hope there are enough media folks to get the admin and Carter on the record today regarding the staff, player personnel, FBS, stadium etc. although, getting people on the record hasn’t done much over last couple years lol…

I'm not angry Marion left. As an FCS school, you have to expect that your coach is gone with any success. I didn't think his one year here was all that successful though. Sure, we were 7-5 but we didn't beat any ranked teams and if there wasn't a blown call and a receiver getting a few inches of his foot out or bounds, we would have been 5-7 and 0-4 in the Big Sky at home. Anyway, if that means Marion can double his salary elsewhere, good for him. I think almost all of us would jump at that chance.
I'm just mad we didn't re-hire Taylor. The only Sac State coach with sustained success in the last three decades was sitting there and we hired Carter. It doesn't make sense to me.

Okay, Coach Zo won the press conference, things that caught my attention:
-Fresques, Richardson, Fred (Otis) Amey, and Angus McClure will all be on staff.
-He doesn't think all the players that indicated they will enter the portal actually will, and he's in discussions with all of them.
-He specifically called out Ryan Coogler becoming involved with the program.
-No updates on schedule, facilities, or conference affiliation.
