What might have been-9-19 PSU at Oregon State

What my crystal ball showed had the game been played today as scheduled. Viks wins the toss and defer to the second half. Beavers take the ball to start the game and transfer QB Tristan Gebbia leads them down the field in a drive taking a little over five minutes, culminating in a 12-yard touchdown ...

MSU coach frustrated at NCAA leadership

Montana State coach Jeff Choate vented at Bozeman Daily Chroncile writer Colton Pool about a perceived lack of leadership from the NCAA regarding college football and the pandemic. He does make some good points. Here is the link. You will need a subscription to view the whole Athletic's article that...

Re: LOOKING GRIM

After football was "pushed back":, I am slowly realizing that we may not see any college athletics during this upcoming school term. Pro sports is one thing, but to expect these kids (and that is exactly what they are at this point in their lives) to try to play in the middle of this pandemic, with ...

Viks would not be able to start practice until Multnomah County is in Phase 3 of reopening. Currently the county is in Phase 1.

Re: LOOKING GRIM

Last week I was in Montana for my father's funeral and I heard from the radio that a home football game in Missoula pumps 3 million dollars into the local economy. I'm sure it is similar in places like Bozeman, Flagstaff, Cedar City and San Luis Obispo. Here, probably not as much as PSU football do...

Re: YEAH, LOOKS LIKE WERE GOING TO HAVE A SEASON.

Recall mentioning how some sports were going to convert from conference schedules to tighter regional schedules. That’s not really been announced yet, but I hear more rumors of that... and the Colonial has opened the door to that possibility... perhaps even for football. I like regional scheduling....

Re: YEAH, LOOKS LIKE WERE GOING TO HAVE A SEASON.

My understanding is that the Power 5 conferences will claim "force majeure" and thereby nullify the "guaranteed" contracts. Sure, we *could* sue to try and enforce them, but to do so would virtually assure that no FBS school would ever schedule with us again. No, this now looks as if there will NOT...

Re: YEAH, LOOKS LIKE WERE GOING TO HAVE A SEASON.

Most of the contracts are guaranteed. Viks get the money regardless if the games are played or not. Rumor is that, instead of buying out the games, the Pac-12 is going to see about pushing the non-conference games to next year. If all the conferences (FBS and FCS) play just a conference schedule th...

Election Day off day

The Big Sky Conference will allow the schools' athletes a day off from all activities on November 3, 2020 to participate in the nationwide voting process. This idea was spearheaded by Eric Reveno, former head basketball coach at U of Portland and now assistant coach at Georgia Tech. https://goviks.c...
