Re: Realignment Du Jour

There is followup. It is just not unique to the Big Sky. Sports talk radio in Portland is always lamenting the fact that not everyone plays everyone else in the Pac-12 either. Same thing with the Mountain West. With those three conferences not being able to play every conference foe, it leads me to...

Re: Viking Soccer 2019

So... PSU goes 4 wins and no draws out of 18 counting games, and 3 of 9 in conference... yet gets the 6th seed and goes to the conference tournament in, um, Greeley next week.

Playing Eastern Washington on Wednesday, winner gets Sac State on Friday.

Re: Stadium News

So, let me get this straight. Merritt Paulson kicked us off his soccer pitch (located in a city owned stadium) 20 miles out of town to play our football games on Century High School's home field (aka Hillsboro Stadium); where for some bizzare reason we also play our soccer matches and, on adjacent ...

Re: Stadium News

I should not have been surprised by this. I'm surprised. https://www.oregonlive.com/timbers/2019/10/hillsboro-hops-to-oversee-business-operations-for-portland-timbers-usl-championship-club-t2-moving-forward.html I don't think this affects Portland State football in terms of scheduling for the near t...

Re: 2019-2020

Interesting that Montana State gets picked. Someone from one of my old 'hoods (during those bleak Boise days) is a freshman this year, and I'm not sure if this means she's getting redshirted. Her story is more than a bit sad, and maybe I'll drag that out before January 11. Meanwhile back home, a ret...

Sac.

State?

Hmmmmm....

(in best Crispin Glover voice, calls NCAA to inform of possible program violations; after all, isn't every time they reach the upper half of the standings in any conference sport other than soccer pretty much a violation?)

Re: Big Sky Attendance

Alan, did you go to the Western game Saturday? I mean, hey, now 3-0 in conference with the two big wins being on the road. Playoffs? I was strongly contemplating that Saturday. Ended up going to Hillsboro after all. BTW, for those so inclined... it is not positive to avoid the negative. The true pos...

Currently in Hillsboro in a t-shirt. OTOH, a cursory glance around me indicates I’m in the minority.

Southern Utah is definitely not Idaho State.

Alternate observation: early Q2, Idaho State 17 at Montana 0.

Early, but notable... and it’s not as close as the score inidicates.

Funny what happens after the first conference game of the year. Griz fans have already anointed themselves national champions and Vik fans have fired their coach.
I thought you weren't new here.

Re: Men's Basketball 19-20 Schedule

That shift of Saturday-Monday and Thursday-Saturday weekends really rather buggers me. I know it probably can't be helped for PSU being the odd school out partner-wise, but yak. As for the pairings, something had to change when North Dakota left and Idaho dropped back in. The oddball notion that, th...

Re: Viking Soccer 2019

Last time PSU had soccer games on the regular in the big stadium, 60 people tops. At least that's how it looked. Something that seats a minimum 5,000 with grass and therefore can be shared between Timbers2 and PSU would be an improvement, if it's on light rail somewhere not too far away. 5,000 is th...

Manufactured Or Real Conference Instability?

If I may refer you to memories of when 8 school presidents met in the Denver Airport and announced breaking away from the WAC to form the Mountain West Conference, please read between the lines of this little piece. https://ravallirepublic.com/sports/college/big-sky-conference/article_4917f28e-c9e4-...

Re: Couple more players transferring out

Two more JC players transferring out, F Robert McCoy (who has already resigned with Concordia-Irvine)and G/F Juwan Williams. Should we be concerned or is this how College basketball operates now? Answer: yes. We should be concerned about who we have when we have them... but this is definitely colle...

Re: Vikings 2019

They'd do better to run shuttles from campus/downtown than from the MAX stop. Well, maybe a few from MAX. Mind you, I have a bad memory of how the Hops started out their shuttle. Not sure they still have that. Maybe if you ran it like Timbers Army does with Seattle Away... charge a bit for the ride,...

Re: Tennessee coming to the Pavilion

Interesting. Tennessee is pairing Portland State with Stanford that week. I was wondering if it was a policy like some schools that try to travel at least once to the home state of their recruits (if they hang around 4 years). But they missed their chance with Mercedes Russell (Springfield, and now ...
