Re: Future Non-Conference Schedules

So: 2019: Arkansas, Boise State 2020: Arizona 2021: Washington State 2022: San Jose State 2023: Oregon, Wyoming (I already see a pattern compared to previous years) 2024 and 2026: San Diego State https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/columnist/dan-wolken/2019/07/15/college-football-budget-cu...

Re: Couple more players transferring out

Two more JC players transferring out, F Robert McCoy (who has already resigned with Concordia-Irvine)and G/F Juwan Williams. Should we be concerned or is this how College basketball operates now? Answer: yes. We should be concerned about who we have when we have them... but this is definitely colle...

Re: Vikings 2019

They'd do better to run shuttles from campus/downtown than from the MAX stop. Well, maybe a few from MAX. Mind you, I have a bad memory of how the Hops started out their shuttle. Not sure they still have that. Maybe if you ran it like Timbers Army does with Seattle Away... charge a bit for the ride,...

Re: Tennessee coming to the Pavilion

Interesting. Tennessee is pairing Portland State with Stanford that week. I was wondering if it was a policy like some schools that try to travel at least once to the home state of their recruits (if they hang around 4 years). But they missed their chance with Mercedes Russell (Springfield, and now ...

Re: Big Sky chooses new basketball tournament location

I have been told a story with, naturally, no way to verify this. I'm guessing it's true, as it seems to make sense. I bring this up mostly to look out for "next time." Plus, with UM Kansas City leaving the WAC, you might want to keep an eye out once a month. The WAC had considered taking their confe...

Re: Bruce Barnum

Viking football got kicked out of publically owned stadium in down town Portland when the City turned it over to Merritt Paulson. To my knowledge no one even objected to the dismissal. So now we play football at a venue twenty miles from campus, with no public transit connection. In our “home” open...

Re: Bruce Barnum

All John Canzano has proven is that he has no influence on virtually anything within the city limits of Portland. I would like to know why Alan says what he says... because I'm not hearing anything bad about the prospects of sharing in the Lincoln proposal. Not hearing anything else, mind you. Usual...

Re: Preseason NIT

Last year's schedule for comparison. It looks like there's consolation games... everyone is guaranteed at least 3 games.

These are played solely at campus sites.

Re: PSU pop-up plaza

My daughter made it sound like this wasn't simply going to be an "on-campus" thing, but something that supposedly extends as far as Montgomery goes towards the Willamette. I probably need to double-check that.

Re: Peery Watch, Round 2

Mark Pope got hired at BYU.

Mark Madsen got hired at UVU.

End of main subject... for the moment, anyway. Kind of doubt the Lakers will want to replace Madsen with Peery.

Re: Peery Watch, Round 2

How impressed are those schools going to be with Peery at this point? Probably not. Peery might get hired on rep alone... and might not. The media (which matters not much) is making a really big beef during the tournament about one-and-done players. The media has a point. I'm not sure someone like ...

Peery Watch, Round 2

https://www.sltrib.com/sports/byu-cougars/2019/03/26/is-byu-basketball-coach/ The BYU coach is retiring (I should put quotes around that, but there's compound issues, so it's harder to question this decision). Let it be known that the author of the article has tweeted the following: "It is no coinci...

Re: Bracketology

So... things clicked for 8 minutes.

Imagine a fitter Hansen and another year wiser for Jimenez. Now can Portland State replace Bolston and West? Answer those questions and there’s a solid core for this team for two years.

All I'll say is Oregon beat Seattle U 88-45 last year at this point.

Re: Bracketology

FYI the women's bracket is announced beginning at 4pm today... ESPN shows it.

The projection, after all this time, has Portland State going to Eugene.

(Still ughhing that Oregon would have been a 1-seed except Ruthy Hebard went down for two games)

A little observation: it’s not a great crowd for the final, but it’s better than Reno. Considerably so.

Re: On to tournament

LET'S DANCE!!

Looked like it was getting ugly there, but in gut-it-out time, Portland State fed balls inside (aided by a timely 3) and did the deed. Team effort, really.

Re: Conference tournament

No energy. It's a cold-shooting second half, but the reason for that is that there's no open shots, because nobody's really working harder or as a team to get someone open. It's all either driving to the hoop or, all too late, forcing a couple Weber backcourt mistakes. This Portland State team has h...
