Re: Idaho Football to BSC?

Talk about splitting the Big Sky into two divisions, FCS and FBS, suggests that Idaho thinks that there are two kinds of universities, very strong and not so strong academically. I did a little research. Looking at the Washington Monthly annual survey of national universities for 2015, Idaho does ra...

Re: Spring Football 2016

Another player missing from the spring game isn't on campus yet - Davis Alexander, freshman QB from Gig Harbor. No one is talking about him yet, but he'll take some snaps in fall camp. It will be interesting to see how he pans out.

Re: Bacon

An odd story. Ran on Oregonlive yesterday. It's not up now, but I found it using Oregonlive "search". He was indicted as "criminal impersonation". Seems a Sherwood policeman saw two cars pulled over with drivers shouting at each other. Turns out Bacon was one of them; he had pulled the other car ove...

Our first football player run in with the law. Bacon transferred in from Boise State this spring. I'm now wondering if there was anything behind that transfer.

Re: Lots of international experience on roster

Which raises the question, do out of state athletes pay the same tuition as out of state students in general? I'm thinking of all those football out of staters, not to mention these basketball players. That's a hefty sum of money.

Re: Scheduling Conspiracy

It has to do with money, of course, though I wonder how. Located in the Rockies, they must sell more advertising there than they can in say Portland or Sacramento. In Montana everyone who can't go to the game turns the TV on. The same can't be said of Portland or Sacramento. The markets look bigger,...

Re: Softball 2016

We're six games into conference now, standing 3-3 in the middle of the pack. Looks good, though it's early in conference play. We went 1-2 against Weber State and 2-1 against Southern Utah. In conference play the pitching is holding up well: Hendrix with a 1.91 ERA, Wright 2.8 ERA, Crawford 3.68 ERA...

Re: Softball 2016

We split two very good games yesterday. The first we lost to Pitt, the ACC Champion, 0-1. It was a pitcher's battle, their ace pitcher (6-0) holding us to 3 hits and no runs. The promising side to this is the pitching of Alyssa Burk, our freshman pitcher. She held them to 5 hits and only one run. An...

Re: Softball 2016

We finished at the Hawaii tournament this morning with another win against Utah Valley, 4-3. Burk pitched again, giving up three hits and striking out seven. All of UV's runs came off of wild pitches; she's a freshman, after all. The way it looks now, she could be another Bertrand. Let's hope so.

Softball 2016

Things haven't looked good for our softball team this pre-conference season; we've hit well enough, but our regular pitchers are at best average, with eras running from .600 and up. But today light shown in the tunnel! Freshman Alyssa Burk started and finished today, a two-hitter and 10 count them 1...

It was beginning to look like a lackluster season, then Eastern comes to town and we beat them 107-93. There's no figuring. When we are good, we are very very good. And when we're bad.....

Would you believe that our starting team of four freshmen and a sophomore defeated the only undefeated team in conference tonight? Yep, Eastern Washington went down. At one point early in the game we led by 19. The rest of the game was Eastern whittling away at that. In the end they got within 2 poi...

Re: Idaho Football to BSC?

How likely is the Sun Belt to turn them out? Is the poor football team enough? Distance from the other schools? The fact that only a Canadian would see Idaho as a southern "Sun"?
Only the pursuit of the Holy Grail of football, a bowl game, has kept Idaho out of the Big Sky.

Re: Northridge

And finally - Our freshmen backcourt looks potentially good, with great shooters. The front line is thin, but next year we'll have three redshirts over 6' coming in. I'm looking forward to 2015-16.
