I'm thinking the spring schedule doesn't make sense and that Sac St opting out is the right move, PSU should consider as well. No bodybag games to bolster the budget, no fans in stands to generate gate revenue and no media rights money that amounts to anything. In short, why burn a year of the athlete's eligibility for such a reduced, and tenuous schedule? Why not just gear up for a spring camp in late May and prepare for what hopefully be a 'normal' fall season? This isn't making a lot of sense at the moment. Thoughts?

I may be wrong, but I don't believe the short "spring football season" will cause anyone to lose eligibility. That being said, all the "spring football season" does offer is a chance to lose even more money than PSU athletics already does.

The spring season does count as used year of eligility. The canceled spring sport athletes did kept their eligility status without losing a year or using redshirt. That's why there have been opt-outs.

DI athletes granted an extra year due to COVID.

Football is considered a fall sport therefore athletes are allowed an extra year.
