2025 Offseason Portal Tracker

Awesome Gruden post. Great publicity for EWU .. Too bad EWU trustees, Lynn Dickey . RIP mary past EWU president Mary Cullinand could not parlay past EWU success and ride that wave. Case in point , I actually went to EWU with one of the trustees and he is a good guy but has no vision. EWU needs people who are in higher authority to have vision and not just keep EWU afloat. Going upward takes vision and commitment. Past EWU president Rudy Arevalo got EWU to a good launching point with some great momentum and EWU let it slip away. I still like Eagles no matter what but we are sinking....I'm wearing my EWU hat to work today.

Eastern is not sinking. In fact, we're finally moving in the right direction. There's a lot of effort right now to re imagine the level of success that's attainable at Eastern and to reach out to all corners to reinvigorate alumni and fans. Every event I've attended over the last couple years has been inspiring. Tim Collins, Shari McMahan, Aaron Best, Dan Monson. You can tell there's a commitment to taking this university way higher. If you were at the Night of Champions a couple weeks ago you know what I mean. Outreach from the EAF, the ticket office, and everyone else on the business side of athletics has been outstanding too. I'm very optimistic.

ok, maybe I spoke too soon. You have to admit that talk is cheap.....we have a football alumni who is a past super bowl mvp yet we have a glorified high school stadium.

Talk is cheap, and I'm as ready as any to see some results. Are you saying you can have a glorified high school stadium and a Super Bowl MVP? What about a national championship? Is that possible?

Winning would reinvigorate alumni and fans. This alumni is not giving a dime to EWU Athletics until Best is fired. Its been 3 losing seasons, spring ball from what I understand was awful, it way past due.

I'm not big into basketball but the Monson hire seemed underwhelming. I'm pretty sure he was being fired from his last job and he somehow turned around his last season there into being successful. Seemed like he was hired mostly cause he had connections to the area, Gonzaga and Mark Few.

I realize the basketball team was gutted and all pretty much transferred to WSU so we have to give Monson a few seasons to get going but I'm not hopeful.

If Best and Monson somehow get us back into winning seasons and contention for titles, that would be fantastic but I just don't see it, especially with Best.

And Collins trying to market us as "Spokane County's team" just seems ineffective. Like WSU/Gonzaga alums and fans aren't going to be just like "lulwut ok" to that. WSU may not have P5 status anymore but its still way bigger and has more resources. It's cool he is doing more stuff to raise money like the Night of Champions and premium seating.

I'm glad you bought the hype but I'd be pretty skeptical.
