Why? We offer baseball, softball, VB, soccer, tennis, golf and bball. Wouldn’t Pac be more interested in full membership?Pure speculation, but seems like there is some steam building behind Sacramento State as a football only PAC-12 invitee????

Agree, it's just weird to see how the cycle of rumors goes.... It was announced this AM that CBS secured the media rights for the PAC. This makes sense considering the "basketball conference" mentality it will have. It's probably just click bait. Agree about hoops sucking for so long as the PAC will be a power hoops conference going forward. If the PAC wanted Hornet football right now, a football only invite would have been issued and there wouldn't be a need for the waiver.
Interesting. MW had a contract with CBS, so looks like the PAC yanked that from the MW. Not a surprise as all the valuable MW brands will be in the PAC starting July 1, 2026.Agree, it's just weird to see how the cycle of rumors goes.... The biggest rumor is that Texas St. will be announced at the ninth member today. AND that there is a "mystery school" in line for a 10th member, 9th FULL member spot?
It's gotta be UTSA + Texas State.Interesting. MW had a contract with CBS, so looks like the PAC yanked that from the MW. Not a surprise as all the valuable MW brands will be in the PAC starting July 1, 2026.
Process of elimination told us that Texas State has been the obvious full 8th member for a few months ever since the PAC was unable to lure the prime AAC targets. A full 9th member is probably one of the AAC Texas schools to pair with Texas State.

Agreed. While many look to Liberty as the example or pathway, Georgia State, UTSA and Old Dominion were FCS independent before their FBS transition with a conference invite. It took Georgia State 3 years before joining the Sun Belt, UTSA only one year before joining the WAC, and Over Dose U two years to CUSA. This scenario is highly likely for Sac State if they don’t pursue the legal route or if they do, it fails. Get the stadium built, have success in basketball and FCS football, and there is no reason why it still can’t happen. We're not in play for PAC membership unless there are absolutely no options on the table. PAC can add Texas State and sit tight at 8 full members until the next round of realignment in just a handful of years. We got favorable breaks how it shook out and Dr. Wood made a valiant push for an invite but a PAC invite was just too big of an ask.
The BW move for Olympic sports laid out what our near future entails. We await the final waiver vote from the D1 Council, that will more than likely be a rejection, then Dr. Wood has to go the lawfare route.
The next handful of years will be critical for the athletics in getting ready for the realignment that will hit in the beginning of the 2030's.

Sacramento State, the Pac-12, Mountain West, Pawn Stars and future of Hornets athletics
When Sacramento State this week announced it was leaving the Big Sky for the Big West in 2026, what flashed into my mind was the television show Pawn Stars.Thatnevadasportsnet.com
Yeah, sports and passionate in the BW don’t equate. Instead of the bus league, this will be the commuter league made up of schools that invest half of what Sac does in their sports, with many, if not all with sub par D1 facilities just like the Hornets who are trying to distance themselves from staring in the mirror.I was operating under the policy of "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" but I have to weigh in at this point.
While the BW conference saves travel costs exponentially for our programs -- you do not leave your conference and sign a new conference deal when your goal is to then hope to move to a third conference in 2-3 years. This puts you in a recruiting and scheduling hellscape. Basketball and Football will be fine -- the rest of the sports will have very little clue the amount of non-conference games they'll have, nor will they have a clue of who the opponents will be to sell to recruits.
Say what you will about the savings -- but you can no longer sell traveling to some of the most beautiful parts of the country (and Moscow) playing against passionate fan bases to recruits. You will sell going to Long Beach to play in front of a 1/5th full Walter Pyramid with fans that won't clap for the defense chant, yet alone say it out loud.
Looks like someone trying to make a guess and hope they are right to me. Find nothing on that person. That's just like pulling up any random fan on X.
