Kind of late game.

Let's see if UNC can turn some heads here..

Hat tip to the Bears, best and most well rounded UNC team I've seen since you guys joined the BSC. Cheeks is an absolute monster in the passing game. Good luck the rest of the way.

I watched the whole game. Very exciting back and forth. Bears looked good. If it wasn't for the 4 interceptions.. Their defense limited Sac to field goals on a few of them, but you just can't have 4 interceptions.

That last endzone drive too.. that one hurt. It looked like a sure thing, then suddenly it's 4th and 1 and they threw a pass.. Not sure about that call, but hindsight is 20 20.

Cheeks is a great receiver, he could be playing Sundays looks like. Another hard loss for the Bears.

But UNC was throwing it to Cheeks on a slant who was money all night. Ricky Lee III did a great job jamming Cheeks which threw off the timing. The defensive line also had hands up in the passing lane which I think impacted the throw (which was off target). UNC went to their playmaker on a critical play and it just wasn't there. Hard to fault the play call there.

As a Hornet fan, that was one of the best experiences in Hornet Stadium I've had. 20k+ in attendance for homecoming and a jam packed tailgate before hand. Snagging that win was huge for us.

Yeah, the announcer kept saying a lot of people came to watch Lil' Wizzle or whatever his name is after the game, that combined with homecoming and was a big crowd.

The last play would have been a RPO. So Gibson must have seen something that he thought made throwing to Cheeks a better option than handing off to Price. It was the go route where Cheeks had been money all night. Not the slant. The other slant that Gibson threw early in the first half was picked. That route was a good read but took too long to throw. Allowed defender to get into the play. Thus the tip pick.

The Gibson - Cheeks connection was money all game. They hit him on some slants earlier as well, and yes there was a pick 6 by the same defender (Ricky Lee III) that was on Cheeks on that last play. Lee was pressing Cheeks on that last play, so I doubt it was a change at the line of scrimmage by Gibson. He probably had his mind made up pre-snap to go to the big playmaker there, again, hard to fault him for that decision (both Gibson and Coach Lamb).

Saw some Twitter posts about UNC getting stuffed at the goal line at South Dakota on 3 straight running plays which probably factored in to the decision to throw the ball in this situation.
