Zo has stayed in one location at every stop longer than Marion has stayed at any one stop. He has more head coaching experience than Marion had when he took the job.
Marion is gone. None of what you say here has any relevance whatsoever wrt the other candidates supposedly in consideration for the position.
Carter is known for being a great recruiter and that Assistant head coach is a higher position than a coordinator in the chain of command. So it's not like Zo is not qualified. He has to just fill the gaps in his weaknesses, just like any head coach hire.
This is another comment w/o relevance.
All of the candidates are qualified in some way, shape, or form. That wasn’t in question.
What is being questioned is how Carter could possibly be considered the more qualified and a better candidate over Troy Taylor. Because he is not.
I don’t think Taylor’s resume needs to be cited nor do the unprecedented accomplishments of Sac State’s program under his 4-year tenure here. Everyone’s aware of them.
You guys can do all the damage control, excuse making, and mental gymnastics that you want. But there’s literally no legit comparison between Carter’s qualifications vs. Taylor’s qualifications AND Taylor’s proven success.
For the president to choose Carter over Taylor considering the WIDE gap between them — there’s no other rational explanation for the decision aside from what has already discussed. It’s clear as day, unless you just choose not to see and acknowledge it.
The irony here is people don't want Carter to get this position and are citing things based on his race as the justification, while claiming racism against TT.
There is no irony here. You clearly don’t even understand what that word even means, as what you’ve outlined above is in no way the opposite of what was intended or expected.
The “people” you refer to are against a lesser qualified and lesser proven candidate being hired over a much more qualified and much more proven candidate.
Anybody seriously arguing that Carter is remotely close to the candidate Taylor is given what Taylor accomplished during his 4 year tenure here, and also considering the history of the program before he arrived and after he left, really needs to have their head examined.
And before anybody tries to cite the drama Taylor brings from his tenure at Stanford as any kind of serious factor in this process — be sure to explain and defend Wood offering the job to a federally convicted dog killer just 12 months ago.
If that galaxy sized demerit on Vick’s life resume didn’t affect his candidacy then GTHOH mentioning it wrt Taylor and his candidacy. Nobody wants to hear that level of hypocrisy.
No one in any position to make the actual coaching hire has publicly said TT is out because of his race, or we have to have Zo because of his.
You clearly aren’t aware of the things Luke Wood is on record saying before he arrived at Sac State, nor the numerous things he’s said (and done) during his tenure as president. It’s either that, or you have chosen to bury your head in the sand and/or are suffering from a serious case of confirmation bias.
The evidence is all there. Go find it.
Also, HBCU's do not exclude people based on race. Any one can attend. They were created because Black people were excluded from colleges. Every organization that is being created or promoted on campus by Wood does not exclude anyone. Anyone can join any of them.
Thanks for the brief history lesson, sort of. You just continue to state things that have absolutely no relevance whatsoever.
Sac State is not an HBCU, and could never become one. The history of HBCU’s and the reasons they exist are irrelevant. It’s the mindset of the current president, the actions he’s been taking, the constant focus and emphasis on race/minority topics that are in question here wrt his motives and decision making.
If Wood didn’t have a long history of infusing into almost everything he does — nobody here would be pointing it out or talking about it. That’s what you and many others are failing to understand.
Case in point, the previous president of the university didn’t have the same track record as Wood, nor did he publicly make any of the same types of comments thus it was never brought up on this forum.
It’s really not that hard to understand. But by all means, you and SD can continue digging a deeper hole of denial.
