Bring Back Troy

The NCMFC is not made up of solely black coaches. There are members from other ethnicities including a large group of Hispanic coaches.
Never mind the fact that it's a who's who list of coaches, former players, and football executives that make up the board of directors. Pretty telling how easily people are triggered on the "optics" surrounding our moves...and this dates back to the past year for folks both inside and outside of our camp.

“He’s got deep roots in NorCal, and was Contra Costa College’s HC (47-27, four conf. championships)”

^^ This portion of the tweet explaining why Carter has emerged as a favorite is especially hilarious, considering that it also applies to Troy Taylor, and even more so considering that Troy has got deep Sacramento roots and actual experience as head coach of the Hornets program winning multiple conference championships.

But President PHD will hire the least qualified candidate, subverting the preference of university’s AD, and allegedly do so with the blessing of the trustees or directors or otherwise group of clueless people torpedoing the future of this university and it’s athletic programs with their nonsensical political agenda. Good, great, grand, wonderful.

Forrest Gump was spot on when he famously said “stupid is as stupid does”, as was Ron White when he proclaimed that “you can’t fix stupid”. Sac State’s inept leadership proves as much.

The board of directors is a lot of power players and respected names. The executive committee is almost entirely black.
It was founded by Maryland head coach and he speaks about losing the BCA (Black Coaches Association, later Black Coaches and Administrators) which changed its name and mission to be inclusive of other minorities and became the AAE, then folded soon after when it lost support. Another few organizations specific to black coaches came and went. In interviews he likened his mission to Stacy Abrams and pushing black excellence.

Here’s an interview with Mr Carter if anyone wants to hear the man

I agree with the sentiment if Troy Taylor, Jackson, and Carter are the candidates, it speaks to state of program in light of leaving Big Sky for football. I hope there are other candidates and progress on schedule and stadium we arent hearing about. The local articles/social media pushing a Coach typically are put out by the coaches contacts to get visibility.

I read the bio for this Zo Asst coach guy. He is a walking Black Lives Matter mouthpiece. Wood is trying to create CSU-HBCU here in Sac, so I think the TT rehire will not happen. Using the bogus Stanford crap will be the hill he dies on. Politics should not be involved in this decision, but it will be the only decision.

Would TT really want to work for Malcolm X Jr?
This is the kind of BS that will honestly BURN most alumni. Sac St has never been HBCU. Complete BS even though he’s trying to change the demographics.
The color of skin should never be more important than MERIT. The ESPN deal was a “hit job” by backstabbing Andrew luck. Innocent until proven guilty and TT is litigating his innocence. From what I know. We never had any drama at SAC ST under Troy’s leadership,
The slow decision making and if WOOD prioritizes skin color over merit! TBD. I might have to turn my back and walk away from my school. Sad to consider that but I feel morals need to be a defining moment in our character.
If he hires somebody besides TROY and team becomes another shot show / im going to
I am extremely dismayed that it’s not Troy. But I’ll contain myself, for now.
If he selects a minority just for BS and sacrifices our program’s future I find myself considering IF I want to continue to support the program.

Racism is Racism and it’s not acceptable
Coveted?

Can TT sue based on racial discrimination? He was obviously without a doubt the best proven, most qualified candidate for the job.
If TT isn’t hired. I’d have zero cares if he sued SAC ST into oblivion. Absolute BIAS. ZO better be over .800 or consider it a complete face plant in my opinion.
Troy Taylor would return us to winning form!

Alonzo Carter was Assistant Head coach at SJSU and Arizona. Meaning, a head coach in training. Brent Brennan brought Zo along with him from SJSU for a reason. Mind you, Brent Brennan was a position coach until he was a head coach too. Nobody questioning that.

Zo has stayed in one location at every stop longer than Marion has stayed at any one stop. He has more head coaching experience than Marion had when he took the job.

Carter is known for being a great recruiter and that Assistant head coach is a higher position than a coordinator in the chain of command. So it's not like Zo is not qualified. He has to just fill the gaps in his weaknesses, just like any head coach hire.

The irony here is people don't want Carter to get this position and are citing things based on his race as the justification, while claiming racism against TT. No one in any position to make the actual coaching hire has publicly said TT is out because of his race, or we have to have Zo because of his.

Also, HBCU's do not exclude people based on race. Any one can attend. They were created because Black people were excluded from colleges. Every organization that is being created or promoted on campus by Wood does not exclude anyone. Anyone can join any of them.

As far as coaching hire, Zo does not move the needle for me, but damn ...no need to create some big conspiracy.

Excellent post. Coach Carter has put in his time, and has been valued enough that Brennan took him with him to UofA. With the right staff hires, I can see a Coach Carter tenure being successful.

I see nothing positive with a Jackson hire and don't see how Hornet football would survive that move given the current situation the program is in.

TT is the best coach the program has ever had, delivered to most exciting teams and standout players, is local, probably the best winningest percentage (23-1) HC ever in the BSC, so hiring him doesn’t even take a neuron of brain activity.

Meanwhile this AZ asst. has as his accomplishment being a BLM advocate, minority this, minority that listed in his bio. He has made his existence solely on his ‘minority’ status. Ironic, most football players are black, so why sing the song of being oppressed as his main drivers?

Legally yes, anyone can attend an HBCU, but would you not being of that culture? Why do we even still prioritize HBCU’s, for the past 60 years it has all been equal. Double standard.

Obviously we know Wood is a social experiment whacko trying to kill ‘whiteness’, so this fits right up his playbook.

Looks I want Troy just like everyone else but all this race stuff is to much. I understand some feel Wood is trying to create a HBCU environment at Sac State but all the thought that this is racism is a bit much for me.

I’m fine giving Zo or anyone a shot, but even in interviews he says the purpose of the NCMFC and also his zoom series in Covid was to get position coaches looks at OC/DC positions.

I understand he coached at JC, and has decent experience being at SJSU and then UA. We’ll know soon enough.
