Good to hear from you again Stinger. Hope the holidays has been good to you. Thanks for the information about Williams. Tough loss because he was finally playing up to his potential after a couple of lost years due to injuries. It will be interesting to see where he lands. Money will help determine his path
It has been a few years of tough seasons. With the new year approaching I am hoping our resolution of a winning season comes true.
 
these two transfer portals are both significant in my opinion. Both were contributors, EWU just doesn't have the depth to lose anyone right now. I cant say I blame them as EWU probably looks like a sinking with CAPTAIN BEST at the helm.

Question for those in the know who understand the portal a little better: So, the portal closed last Friday. Is this a deadline for players to enter the portal, or is a deadline for players to enter and be signed by another school? That's the part that's unclear to me.

I could be wrong here, but I think the "deadline" you're talking about is just the drop-dead time for players to enter the portal. I think they can be signed all the way up to fall camp or the beginning of the academic year, not sure which.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

This sounds about right to me. I see tons of players on social media who are "still looking for a home." I don't think we'd be seeing that if the portal deadline were the same as the transfer deadline.
 
Yeah, Jan 16th was just the entry deadline. Schools can sign players all the way up to beginning of the academic year, although obviously coaches want guys in school prior to Spring Ball preferably, and prior to fall camp for signees that happen later on in the summer. I'm sure coaches are hanging on to scholarships for this very reason.
