#2 EWU at #14 MSU Game Thread

Roots Announcers, kind of pissed me off, nothing was said about either team, they just jumped to the Baseball Game. Hope they doesn't announce any more of our games.

Well Root Sports NW is owned by the Seattle Mariners, so of course anything Mariners is going to take precedence. It's unfortunate, but they didn't cut away early for Mariners pregame, so it could have been worse. I personally am a big fan that the Big Sky is getting exposure. It's great too for us seeing as they typically get a few EWU road games per year on root (broadcast in HD) that probably would not be televised at all otherwise. And even when it's not EWU, there's been some great games televised. NAU clownstomping Montana at Washington Grizzly a couple years ago comes to mind. I hope the Root/Big Sky agreement lasts for a long time.

Wow, so just now shaking the rust off here from that game Saturday. WHAT A GAME. IF that doesn't define BARN BURNER, I don't know what does. My hats off to Vernon and EWU and your fans that made it out. I wish we could have pulled it off, but it was nearly as I expected... Vernon just has that intangible that wins games. Kupp and Forte are amazing too.

Also, congrats to the EWU fans that got to burn the Griz effigy at the Great Falls tailgate - hope you all had a great time. We take pride in our tailgating.

Good luck the rest of the season. I would agree with a lot of posts both here and over on BN, I think both EWU and MSU could reflect on their defensive play and change something. To win the NC, EWU's D will need to stop the big plays. (as will ours if we want more than one playoff game, if at all)

FTG - light em up out there Nov. 8!!!!!

Vic, the game had gone gone over the allotted time, so they had to cut to the Mariners game. Overall, I think Root Sports does an outstanding job and am happy that they've teamed up with the Big Sky. It's better coverage and production than pretty much anything at the FCS level, IMO.

My conspiracy mind started going off the charts when I looked at the time that was given for the game on Saturday. Root should know better then to put the game up against the Mariners pre-game and game. I was so nervous about the length (only 3 hours given) on the schedule I know that they would have switched over and we would have lost the end if it was time for first pitch.
I think someone (Insert Doug Fullerton's name) or someone from Root got to Baldwin and offered him some petty cash :twocents: to go for 2 points instead of going for the tie so that the game wouldn't go into OT!
I know we had an issue with our kicker being injured but still what a BALLSY call to go for 2 on the road! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
I have the same cardiac feeling that I did in 2010! It is going to be a roller coaster of a season! Hang on!!!
GO EAGS!

JPN17,
Thanks for the information. If I had owned the Mariners, I would have done the same. I wanted to see the Mariners get into the playoffs, don't be mean to our "EAGLES" :D I do enjoy a lot of games on Root TV, I don't pay much attention to their announcers, when it comes to the Eagles, I am all eyes. Maybe a little bias? :geek: :geek: :) :) :).

SE-174,
Thanks for the info, I didn't know there was a limit of how long a game can go. I learn something today. In case you get an opportunity to make it to Northern Quest @ 5:30 p.m., Coach Beau will be there in the Impulse. This is a much better place than we used to go the past few years. This is the place where people goes to dance when they feel like "Getting Down" ;) ;) ;) Leaves me out with these bad knees. Vic Wallace

Root Sports opens up the aperture quite a bit on Big Sky football and especially EWU over here on the west side. People in the Seattle area are quite in tune with who Vernon Adams and the Eagles are. That probably wouldn't happen without increased exposure through playing games on the Pac 12 network and the television deal with Root.

Wow, what a game! Not sure if I can take too many more with the Cardiac Kids playing, but it was amazing to be there. Just wanted to take a minute to say that every Cat fan I met was wonderful. All good-natured, and gracious - even in their disappointment. We got handshakes and high-fives and "great game!" from everyone we passed. The weather was fantastic, and the game was NUTS! Thanks to the folks in Bozeman for a great game day experience.

CA, thanks for the post. I know that game will go down in BSC lore as one of the all time greats. And the Bobcat fans I've seen have consistently conducted themselves with class. You guys can take solace in the fact you have built a team I believe is even better than the DM days. I didn't think that was possible, but you guys are going to be very dangerous this year, and for the next few at minimum. Looks like the Griz are slipping further down the totem pole.

I suspect MSU will be taking the big sky crown for a single year in 2016 while we adjust to a new QB, and then we can have it back.

Highlights from the game. Still gets my heart pumping!

Nah. Quarterbacks don't make the whole team. Also, remember when we were supposed to be adjusting to a new quarterback in 2012? Then a new receiving corps in 2013? Come 2016, we are going to have the meanest, most experienced defensive line in the conference :thumb: .

What is happening on special teams???? This is BS, has to be block in the backs and holds to make this happen every kick...
Or the best return guy in the league :)
