Dark days when you can't get one yard on the ground. Anyway, we had our chances in this one. Time to re-group and get ready for some revenge on Sam Houston. Really think we're hitting this bye at the right time. Gotta get some of these guys that are dinged up some rest.

I've seen it too many times. Not over yet.

 We'd have to get a stop, score a TD, then get an on-side recovery at this point.

Got the stop.

Well, that ain't gunna work. This is a game where having a guy like Padron to come in when Adams was struggling would have really helped. As it is, it doesn't seem like we have enough confidence in our back-ups to move the ball when he was having such a hard time.

Well, we had our chances. Too many penalties and Adams with some bad choices. I'd rather have it now than in conference play.

If someone told me we'd lose this game but beat OSU I wouldn't have believed them. Either way, I'd gladly trade this game for a win over SHSU. I wanna crush those guys and their cocky fans.

Agree, if Adams was going to have a bad game this one is fine for that. We need to take care of business in two weeks and well be just fine going to into conference play.

If anyone needs a pickmeup, Weber is getting throttled 70-0 in the 3rd quarter by Utah State, after getting beat 70-7 by Utah last week. Looks like we get another bye after SHSU.

I feel like we will beat Sam Houston in their place. We were bound to have a game like this, seems like we always do. We need to figure out the man coverage that Toledo used and that SHSU will undoubtedly use. How dis we beat it last year?

We beat it because Adams was able to scramble outside of the pocket, breaking down their coverage, and allowing our receivers to get more separation and get open. That didn't happen tonight.

+1, Padron couldnt do that but when Adams came in the game it was a completely different dynamic that they had to defense. they stayed in that man to man coverage the entire game and it almost bit them in the asses. We will score on sam houston, they don't have the defensive players they did last season.

I'm choosing to look at it this way: Our O and special teams played like absolute garbage for the better part of the game. Tons of unforced errors, a couple bad decisions and a substantial amount of poor physical execution. Through all this, we still had opportunities to win this game down the stretch. For the most part, we weren't outclassed or outmatched. These are all things that can be fixed and, in combination with a bye week and the apparent lack of injuries, can actually be turned into positives. I like us having the taste of blood in our mouths going into a marquee matchup in a fortnight.

It feels as if both teams played without their starting quarterback this game. Toledo is a good team and damn, that runningback is a bruiser.

To All,
Let me be the 1st to compliment our team for playing a good game. We looked great in the 1st qt & 3rd qt. We missed to many tackles. VA I taught he was going to have another great day. We were up 14-something in the 1st qt. I couldn't tell if Allen Brown lost his balance or not, that dude ran away from him when he caught the ball for a TD. We had plenty of opportunities to win the game, Toledo seems like they wanted the game more. I wonder if they are still getting back at 1am. Going to be a long flight back. A bye week can get our Players rested and cure their injuries. Proud of our team, we hit a bump in the road. Like I've always said, our team can play with any team. Surprise we just had two turnovers, which cost us no points. Must give Toledo credit, they played a very good game, I seems as if there were 4 spies on VA. Get ready for the trip to SHU week after next. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

Time of possession:
Toledo 36:50
EWU 21:10.

I was curious to see this number because I felt like our D was on the field the whole night and still played pretty damn tough, despite the yardage. They were, and they did - especially the 2nd and 3rd quarters where we forced a number of 3 and outs and kept us in it. That's a REALLY positive sign for us go forward. And we STILL haven't forced any turnovers.

I may have been over-reacting a bit to Vernon's play earlier in the thread but man he looked lost. There was one series where he had back to back throws in the dirt. I assume it wasn't physical, and I understand Bo has to leave him in to for confidence reasons and to learn...but it was difficult to watch in a game where we had a shot to win.

Also, nice to see the Big Sky refs make the trip. :ohno:
