2008 OOC Schedule

Does anyone have a clue about the OOC schedule. We'll have 12 games scheduled so who's on the schedule. We know Purdue in the opener. I think Tx St is coming to Greeley? Please don't schedule Cal Poly or NDSU! Troy - any heads up on the OOC schedule?

Why do we have a 12 game schedule next year?

There is some rule that when an extra Saturday falls between whatever the dates are for a typical season you can schdule 12 games, that might be the reason? Or if that rule has been abolished then we will be back at 11 games.

Southern Utah might be more than we could take. How about Fort Lewis or Greeley West?

If you're going to take a dig at least be knowledgeable--Greeley West is a pretty good team, and just missed the playoffs. It would have been 4 straight years of appearances (maybe 5?).

I think he just pulled the name of a high school out of a hat. I dont think he was trying to diss GW, he was just saying we should schedule a high school.

I know that rule was in place for FBS but I didn't know about FCS. If so I think that is great as we can get an extra home game or money game in there somewher.

I know 2 for sure, they aren't OOC games, but you play Montana on Nov. 1st and EWU on Nov. 8th
Damn the two conference favorites back to back. The good news is they are both at home. The bad news is it is at the tail end of the schedule. That means we will have a disproportionate amount of road games early in the year. Bad because we are playing on the road and also bad because the end of year games don't draw as well.

Montana has released their schedule for next year and it is for 12 games. So it must be allowed for FCS schools to schedule the extra game also.

We actually play Montana on 10/25 so I like that a lot better than PSUVikings timing.

The only dates I know for certain (per the other teams websites) are:
9/6 @ Purdue
10/25 vs. Montana

Wow, I'm shocked to see Montana didn't schdule their traditional rival Ft. Lewis again this year.

I think EWU is still the favorite as long as they bring in a coach with similar philosophies or at least one who is smart enough not to ram wholesale changes down the teams throat (ala Portland State). They have the horses there for the next two years that is for sure.

UC-Davis has us in Cali and Texas St. is coming to Greeley and of course we're going to Purdue. Do we have a 12 game schedule this year? Would that mean no bye week again?

Per Any Given Saturday:
Aug 30, 2008 at Purdue
Sep 06, 2008 Bye
Sep 13, 2008 Bye
Sep 20, 2008 Texas State
Sep 27, 2008 Northern Arizona
Oct 04, 2008 at UC Davis
Oct 11, 2008 Idaho State
Oct 18, 2008 at Weber State
Oct 25, 2008 Montana
Nov 01, 2008 at Montana State
Nov 08, 2008 Eastern Washington
Nov 15, 2008 at Sacramento State
Nov 22, 2008 at Portland State

I would look for one of the two byes listed to most likely be filled by a D-2, though Cal Poly and San Diego each owe us a home game. Poly's full up with San Diego State, Montana and McNeese, but San Diego shows a bye on the 13th.

Thanks Troy. That Purdue game really stands out, especially with the 2 bye weeks. Hope Tiller takes it easy on us.

Hope we can schedule a tune up game in one of the two bye weeks. NMHU, Ft. Lewis, Wasted St. esc...

I think an early win would at least help get a good rythym going, and build some confidence. We played much better after beating MSU this last year. I think it was time, but also a feeling that the team can win.

That is a pretty good schedule. I definitely would like to see a D2 (and a weak one at that) added. The one thing that would make it better is if the bye week was later in the year especially with 4 of the final 6 on the road.

Maybe Johnson and Wales will start a football program in the next couple months and we can get them on the schedule!
