2008 OOC Schedule

Alright these are the only games i know of that da bears are playing:

-UNC@PUrdue
-Texas State@UNC
-UNC@UC-DAVIS
-UNC@Montana State
-UNC@Portland State
-ISU@UNC
-NAU@UNC
-EWU@UNC
-UNC@SAC
-UNC@WSU
-Montana@UNC

But since the NCAA is alowing FCS (1-AA) Teams 12 week scheduals That means the Bears have the chance for two more games. Most likely they will probably play one Divison-2 team, most likely someone like Mesa State or Adams State. Now their last non-conference game i can either see them playing either San Diego at home from the Pioneer conference, or possibly NDSU or SDSU after they have joined the Conference. With the new talent coming into UNC and their adjustment to divison 1-AA (FCS) football i think they could compete.

Knowing the way we do things I'm guessing Jay has NE Missouri State and Grand Valley State on speed dial. We need to be humiliated more at home this year.

Per Any Given Saturday:

Sep 13, 2008 Bye
Sep 20, 2008 Texas State
Sep 27, 2008 Northern Arizona
Oct 04, 2008 at UC Davis
Oct 11, 2008 Idaho State
Oct 18, 2008 at Weber State

Nov 01, 2008 at Montana State
Nov 08, 2008 Eastern Washington
Nov 15, 2008 at Sacramento State
Nov 22, 2008 at Portland State

I would look for one of the two byes listed to most likely be filled by a D-2, though Cal Poly and San Diego each owe us a home game. Poly's full up with San Diego State, Montana and McNeese, but San Diego shows a bye on the 13th.

Did all of you miss Troy's post?

So, our loyal users put this together over a month ago, why are we just getting it from the department now?!?!?

Only 11 games and not 12? I though this was a year 12 was possible? I'd have liked to see New Mexico Highlands in here instead of a bye.

Texas State is winable... Sac State is winable... Idaho State is winable maybe we can steal another one at home.

3 wins best case scenario but I think 1or 2 wins is most likely. I hope they prove me wrong.

Why the hell are we only playing 11 games? This should be a no brainer to play 12. Besides the benefits of getting an extra game in for all of our young players, they could bring in a weak sister to pad the wins and generate a little more revenue. I don't get it.

I think 3 wins are possible - ISU, Sac and PSU. I don't know much about Texas State's team this year so that could be another possibility. I don't know if I can suffer through another 3 win season.

The Big Sky website has a spring prospectus and under our schedule it says it is incomplete. Maybe we will have 12 games?

Seriously how hard is it to schedule a game aginst an instate D2?? We have good working relationships with most of these schools, and have scheduled them before...it is a money game for them, so they should want to come, plus for them they get an instate game that thier fans can go to, when we played mines, they brought a good number of fans, same for fort lewis and adams state.
