2009 BEARS football Schedule

He'd win more than once a year for four straight years though. Yes, I'm already assuming we'll go 1-10 this year.

Theres nothing here to make me think anything will change. Having said that, by sheer odds we may stumble to 2 wins, but an 0 - 11 season would not suprise me. What we need is a change in the football culture here at UNC

Welcome to the board zclaws. Its usually a little more exciting during the season over here.

If we do have an 0-11 season you can beat there will be a change. Maybe a change at the top with Jay gone and the coach he hired.

It really is amazing. During the 90's we had a great football "culture" then it all fell apart. Now basketball, which was just not really existant in the 90's, seems to be adjusting to the transition better. Probably because the basketball team overachieved in the hiring of Boyle and the football team underachieved in their coach.

To roll this back on topic, the only way the coach stays is if the team can win 4 or 5 games at the least and I don't see that happening.

I saw on AGS that Athlon magazine has us finishing 6th in the conference. Ahead of NAU, SAc and ISU. This is the highest we've ever been ranked in a preseason national magazine!

I don't know yet what the outlook of the UNC team will be for 2009 but I don't see why at least 3 of the games won't be wins?

ISU, South Dakota and San Diego

If UNC builds on last season and is better than I can see 3-5 which realistically would be great improvement and something to look forward to considering how the Bears have done since joining Div I football.

I know more about having a bad to mediocre team than anyone, I'm a Weber football fan! lol

Other than this miracle of a 2008 season, we rarely do .500 or better. So I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts and at the same time hope things improve for UNC and ISU, it sucks to lose and also sucks to see other 'Sky fans have to go through the same torture especially with the close losses like you had.

That's pretty cool, one thing about the Big Sky is the conference is so good even being 6th you can still have a good team.

I remember one year...a few yrs back, back when we had 8 teams. I remember it was just about the entire conference was ranked in the top 40. The Big Sky really is one of the top conferences of FCS.

This program is on the verge of winning again. This is the first time Downing has had more upper-class men and a consistent coaching staff. We've got the players that want to be here. Everyone saw the improvement from years past and most of the games we were just snake-bitten by bad luck. I'm looking for that to change this year.

Weber has in my opinion far and away the best coach in the Big Sky and with McBride there they will always be at or near the top of the conference. You can really see how superior coaching makes a huge difference at this level.

I agree, when coach Mac was at the University of Utah, he was able to bring in the players that made the Utes a very dangerous team, now he is bringing that to Weber State, he brouth in Trevyn Smith, Tim Toone, and Higgins. Higgins would never have come to Weber if Mcbride wasnt there, and Smith didnt want to come to Weber, and now after he has accomplished so much, coming to Weber was without a doubt the best thing that could have happened to him.

I think the Bears will do much better this year, just keep your hopes up, it took Weber 40 something years to bring the conf Championship back to Ogden, us Wildcat fans know how you feel, we were never a very good football program, we are a basketball school, but with Mcbride as our coach, I can see us becoming both.

That is going to help UNC in this case and that is the same exact problem that has plauged Colorado under Dan Hawkins. He will finally have more upperclassmen players than underclassmen players in 2010 if not this season if Buff fans are patient with him.

Speaking of UNC's schedule, I think the best goal for the Bears is to shoot for a winning season. If UNC gets less than four or five wins, it's time for a new coach IMO.

Looks like I will get to see 3 UNC games on the big screen (vs. the internet) this season:

Sep. 5 at Kansas 5:00 PM
TV: Fox College Sports Central

Sep. 26 Montana State * 1:35 PM
NC Football Legends Day; TV: Altitude Sports & Entertainment

Oct. 24 Weber State * 1:35 PM
Band Day; TV: Altitude Sports & Entertainment

I'll have to look for a bar that will show the KU game. They'll probably show it at Jackson's.

What's up with changing the theme games? What is NC football Legends day? Is that taking the place of the hall of fame game? I think there were a couple new ones like community heros day?
