A source close to the football team. I heard that because the defensive line coach was leaving that he didn't want to stay in Utah. He is going to walk on at Hawaii. LOOOOOOL...if we got to play them last season Weber would have thumped them.

Inoke didn't even recruit Eastman, Coach Chad did and he left a year ago to Utah state.

My son is his roommate. It is true, he is moving tommorrow.

That blows a hole in our defensive line for next year. We need to get some coaches to stick around for a while, this 1 and done stuff sucks.

This actually might be a good thing that Eastman is leaving. We have two true freshman d-tackles that started last year and did decent, and they will only improve with hard work. Also Gabe Bowers has played almost every position on the d-line and is a very tough player so he could help out at the tackle spot. There is also a lot of young talent that they brought in last year so the d-line might not be as bad as you might think. The good news for Eastman is that he has to sit out a year if he transfers, and he has been plagued with injuries throughout his short career so he will have plenty of time to heal and get healthy. So you might look at this as a good thing for both parties.

How can this be a good thing to have our best defensivelineman who is all-conference not on our team next year??????

Is he really leaving weber? Does anyone know for sure? I hope not...

WE NEED THE BEAST

The Beast is leaving WSU; but a reliable source said it is on his terms. He is on good academic standings, but has always wanted to play for the University of Hawaii. The Defense will be fine, and whoever the new coach is will do a good job. He is leaving everything to 'walk on' to UH and play D1A football in front of friends, family and fans in Hawaii.

The Beast was fortunate to play on a team that went to the playoffs 2 years in a row. Regarding his injury plagued career, if anyone watched him play, it is obvious that he was targeted at both the CSU game (double team with a chop block helmet to the knee) and the Montana game (chop to the left knee in the beginning of the 2nd half, after holding Reyonlds to less than 50 yds rushing in 1st half). Despite his injuries and playing in only 1/2 the games, he ended up 2nd in sacks, 2nd in tackles for loss and tied for QB hurries....if he had played more games he would have made 1st team Big Sky All Conference.

His best game was EWU, coming off a 3 week layoff, he garnered POW honors over the EWU LB Sherrit with 24 tackles. 3 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss were impressive enough for the Big Sky Conference selection committee. It was a frustrating season with injuries, coaching changes, and other things.

The Beast is leaving his full ride scholarship for a chance to live his dream, and I cannot criticize anyone for pursuing their dream. When The Beast arrived to WSU, Coach Mac said 'this is my top recruit'. The fact is that Coach Mac didn't recruit him because 'I didn't think we had a chance, he's a big time player'.

WSU has a great shot with the 2 returning DT's, Taylor, Bowers, red shirt Moustoufi, Faifo and others.....Mac will put together a winning combination again. GO WILDCATS

From the posts I've read on the subject of Eastman leaving, it sounds like maybe his heart was never really here to begin with. And if so, why did he even come here if he wasn't fully committed to being here? Maybe it's not fair to accuse him of that, and I hope that that's not the case, but as these types of things continue to happen (assistant coaches continually leaving the program, players quitting the team, star players getting benched for breaking team rules, the athletic department's lack of any effort to promote the program, the general lack of fan support, etc.), it is increasingly apparent to me that there is an overall lack of real commitment associated with this program. Am I the only one that thinks this way?

You know, I have to disagree with most of what you're saying. Eastman leaving was for his own reasons. There's been a few players quit, but not a lot. I believe that most of the players and coaches are very committed to having a great program. Last year with Eck leaving killed us. Freeman was a setback to the program. I believe he created a wedge between the players and coaches. With him gone, I believe there will be a reunited fire that will put us back where we need to be. Fan support is always going to be tough until you consistantly have a winning program. Not to mention the fact that you are competing against the three "big schools". I believe the players and coaches are very committed to having a great program. Now we just need to get the fans to believe in them too!

Weber doesn't have a large budget. The school can't pay the coaches what they are worth. The only really well renown player to quit is Eastman, and who can blame him, he's going after a dream. Other than the beast, I haven't heard of any other top players to quit, and I've got news for you...players quit all the time, its part of the game. As for Trevyn being benched...that was an excellent decision on Mac's part. It showed that this program has ethics and character. There is a lot more than winning.
As for the other things, you'd have more fan support if you'd have a promotion and marketing. There isn't anything anyone can say to support or defend the marketing depts. inactions. Pathetic is the best word I can come up as a way of describing the marketing. In a sense I do agree with you, but at the same time there are other facets that are negatively affecting the program, and honestly, they are the responsibility of the school.
