2012 football season opener...

Hard to evaluate these types of games still no idea what this team will be like.

Very true but I did like what our defense was able to do (for the most part). Hopefully those tight ends are better route runners than those in the Big Sky.

I was very pleased with the defense. Thought they were eventually worn down but I thought they played fearless and was laying the wood against the Utes. The offensive line played very well, they only gave up two sacks to a front 4 ranked one of the best in the nation. I felt the running backs did a poor job tonight. It seemed like all 3 backs stuttered at the line of scrimmage and never hit the hole hard and ran north-south. I thought the line opened enough holes to run through.

Not crossing the 50 was embarrassing and the play calling was a bit conservative in a game we had nothing to lose. Oh well......who's next!?!?

I agree. Overall I thought they looked decent. D played well, just got worn down. The offense was a little disappointing, but then again Utah's D was the real deal and I know they won't see another defense like that the rest of the season.

Looks like out of all the FCS vs. FBS, (besides EWU, who beat Idaho) we faired the best. NAU was killed by ASU and Sac State didn't fair well against New Mexico State.

I liked what I saw from the offensive line and that's about all I saw from the offense. Lobato was off almost all night and zero running game.

Defense played well for most of the game, they just ran out of gas. I'm really worried about D Chappele's injury. :ohno:

Even looks like the players are fond of Utah:

The biggest mistake the coaches made was allowing Dominic Gunn to run out of the end zone on every kickoff.

Why wasn't Gunn told to kneel down for a touchback? 5 returns for 58 yards, 11.6 average.

I think that's more on Dom's shoulders. I would say most coaches give the player to make that decision to bring it out. That's his responsibility too. Also, it's a new rule that they kick off on the 25. Gunn won't be as much of a weapon just for that reason. :(
