2012 Recruits (Early Signing-Nov 2011)

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL Aggies!! Why don't the coaches just tell potential recruits who they will be playing when they are in Logan? They are going to be in the same conference as Lamar and Texas State?? Its kinda funny that Aggies mock the Sky and Weber, yet their only hope of saving the WAC and playing in a semi decent league is if Big Sky schools decide to leave and join the WAC, which isn't going to happen. I think it is LOLARIOUS that Big Sky schools keep denying the WAC.

Well...hmmm...Who is Stew planning on dropping to open up space? Loveridge isn't planning on making a decision till November, so if he does decide on USU, someone, who verballed, will get the axe at a very inopportune time. Kinda shows us the ethics occurring in Logan. I still think that if Loveridge signs that Bair will be the one cut off.

Who cares what the Aggies are doing? As for Weber...I've been trying to find any information on Tyler Ott getting an offer, but I can't find anything. I do believe George, his information is pretty sound, but I would like to post something stating that he has, for certain, be extended an offer.

I agree with tal, who cares what is going on up with the team to the north. All that matters is Wildcat basketball. Though I wouldn't be surprised if Stew pulls another thing like he did with Autry.

if there is a chance he will come here then it is relevant to see links about other schools he is looking at, son. i think most people are expecting him to go to byu.

Catcat makes a good point. Its nice to see who else is going after our recruits.

I found some interesting things. Weber is really active in AZ right now.

Cody McDavis Pinnacle High 6-8 PF/C
James Harper Brophy College Prep (Phoenix AZ). Not sure, but he could be the son of Todd Harper 6-4 SG
Kevin Bowman Pinnacle High 6-1 G
Stacy Davis Tolleson High (AZ) 6-7 F

All have worked out for, or have been evaluated by the Weber State staff. I'm not sure if any of them have been offered by the Cats, but I do know that Weber has interest in them. Like I said before, James Harper might be the son of former Weber State great (Hall of Fame member) Todd Harper. They do look a lot alike and play a very similar style of ball.

Let's live in the real world, shall we? Recruiting in college athletics is not for the weak. It's business, whether we like it or not, so let's not act like children, or pretend we're the only righteous on the face of the planet. USU lost 2 players this year due to transfer. In both cases it was their choice, so don't think that players leaving a program is one way only. Walker leaving left USU in a bind. A kid who was projected as our backup PG transferred out. If you want to talk serious basketball, then grow up and man up. How many did Weber lose early this year? So, you think Bair will be the one? Not gonna happen. Bair was offered by Utah. There is no way that Stew would let him go. More than likely one player who signed this year won't make it to Logan. That's the scholarship. Think of it this way. If Loveridge signs with the Aggies, then you have a chance at Ott. Otherwise, you don't. I've always kept track of Weber, and want you guys to win except when you play us, which is how it should be. But, to be honest about it, you have some real small minded fans who post on here. Jealous, childish.

I didn't think we'd offer Loveridge for 2 reasons. He's been evaluated as a tweener. Body of a 3, game of a 4. However, it looks like he's been working on his 3 skills, like Bair's been working on his 2 skills. The other reason, we just got a 6'10" transfer from OK State.

Here's your link on Ott. I don't post things like that unless they're accurate. Watch it, or don't.

I would be classified as weak. I couldn't do what needs to be done to not only keep employment but to succeed. I try not to think of all the players that get recycled every year. I have seen a lot. No more and no less at Utah State than Weber. I enjoy your posts. Just ignore the posts you disagree with. That is what I learned.

George, honestly, you make some good points. Yes, college sports have become a business, but that doesn't make it right to screw with kids lives. I don't like your rationalization that it is alright to screw over kids for wins or so that you can "POTENTIALLY" bring in a better player. Face it, Autry would probably still be in Logan, Walker left. Bad deal by Stew. You and I both know he, Autry, was offered and his verbal accepted till Walker showed interest. That kind of crap leaves a bad taste in my mouth and as an Aggie, makes me sick that the school, fan base, and administration would support that. Loyalty, Ethics, and fair play should be things that are guarded by a program, more so than wins. USU, from what I can see has always had those things. It is a shame that Stew doesn't believe those things anymore.

If a kid gets to the school, and for one reason or another, the situation doesn't fit, then so be it, that kid can, and should leave. However, to cut someone off, who has verbally assured a program that he is going to commit to that program, for another athlete is DIRTY.

You can call me childish or jealous as much as you would like, but the fact remains 13=13. Who isn't going to make it to Logan this fall George?? Who is Stew going to cut loose? Bradshaw, Bair, or Davis? There isn't a lot of room to manuver. No matter, I don't think Loveridge will end up in Logan or Ogden. We both know he will, in all lilkelilhood, end up in Provo.

George, I like this conversation, and personally, really like and appreciate most of your posts. I wasn't trying to be a doosh by asking for Ott's information, I was asking for direction, cause I hadn't found anything. I didn't say anything disparaging towards you. I said, "I do believe George, his information is pretty sound" to me that is pretty positive stuff.

Anyway, I always like hearing your opinion, and getting updates from you. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

George is right. Recruiting is often shady, at best. If a player, who is better than anything you have, lands in your lap, you are going to take them. Almost every single D1 coach out there over recruits, just like the airlines over book. You are forced into it. You would be left high and dry if you didn't. As you are reading this, WSU has two seniors on this year's squad. We probably have 6 or 7 offers out to players we would like on our team for the next year. If, all of a sudden, 5 of them called and commited to us, we would have a little bit of a math problem, wouldn't we? Verbal offers and verbal commitments are non binding for either party. Everyone tries to keep their word, but things can change and often do.

From the Aggie Site:

2012-13
1 - Antonio Bumpus (Sr.)
2 - Norvell Arnold (Sr.)
3 - Kyisean Reed (Sr.)
4 - E.J. Farris (Sr.)
5 - Igor Premasunac (Sr.)
6 - Preston Medlin (Jr.)
7 - Danny Berger (Jr.)
8 - Mitch Bruneel (Jr.)
9 - Jarred Shaw (RS Jr.)
10 - Ben Clifford (So.)
11 - Steven Thornton (So.)
12 - Jordan Stone (RS Fr.)
13 - Marcel Davis (Fr.) (Verballed 6/19/10)
14 - Quincy Bair (Fr.) (Verballed 7/3/10)
15 - Riley Bradshaw (Fr.) (Verballed 4/28/11)

I'm with Tal on this one. Looks to me like the Aggies have 13 filled. Granted, Mr. Hayduke has a better insight on his team, and with that, will know who could be gone. For instance, I've already been hearing rumours that Kyisean Reed didn't qualify, which would be a total bummer for the Aggies, since I think he was their best 2010-2011 addition. But from what we can tell, someone else from that list will have to be cut to make room for Loveridge; if he were to verbal to USU (personally I'd rather have him at USU than at BYU or Utah; of course if he wanted to play for the best he would come to Weber and play for Randy Rahe in the Purple Palace!! My slight bias...). That is where Tal is right.

Yes, Oldrunner, ever basketball/athletic program "over-books" with offers, but when a player verbals coaches will either ensure that that player has a spot at that moment or will cut him loose then. I want to remind you about Ray Kraemer who ended up at Nevada. He verballed to Weber and would have been a good addition for the Cats (even though he never did much for the Wolfpack, he didn't fit their system), but Rahe, knowing he was a good/better addition, didn't cut someone loose to give him a scholarship, even though he was a better prospect than some of the other guys we signed that year. All Rahe would promise him was a preferred walk-on and a possible aid package. Nevada gave him a scholarship in the middle of their run. Evidently he was a great prospect, but Randy did the right thing and honored his commitments to the other players. Who knows if he would have actually panned out, but I think he would have done better at Weber than at Nevada. Anyway, water under the bridge, but I think its gives you another look at the "Business" of college athletics. Integrity should be more important than wins.

Lets get back to business; official offers from what I can tell:
Kyndahl Hill
Jordan Loveridge
Zack LeDay
Tyler Ott (thank you George for the link...looks like a great prospect)
Calean Robinson (in all likelihood will be going to a high major; if he qualifys)
Tim Derksen (not high on our list)
Eric Jacobsen (Verballed to ASU)

Personally, I would really like to see James Harper come to Weber.

Tal;

There is another thing that often happens. A prospect gets a letter of inquiry from a school and goes around telling everyone that he has an offer, when an offer was never made. That happens more often than you would think. The coaches will usually just shrug it off. It is all meaningless in the end anyway.

It would be great to see Loveridge in purple and white. He is probably the Top guy on our list, because he is local and he is really good. BYU already has a guy just like him coming in from the Carolinas. Utah would bring him in and sit him on the bench for 3 years. He is good enough that USU will trade 2 players and the entire cheer squad to get him. It will be interesting to see what he decides. I hope its WSU. If we don't get him, I hope he goes on to have a great career, where ever it is he lands.

Ahh, your explanation for Stew's temper-tantrum when the Ute's approached a in-state player that had already verballed to USU. -- Not for the weak? Let's not act like children...yeah....right. Pretend we're the only righteous on the face of the planet....excuse me while I sneeze....Ahhhhhstewwww.

Seriously George, when you come here, make your points, don't lecture. You obviously follow things closely, but you are surrounded by the most childish, simple-minded fans in the state. It just doesn't add to your credibility here to call us childish, jealous or small minded, because you need to face it, in this state those are the very words that define Aggie fans. We do have our dreamers, but for the most part Weber fans are very realistic about our station in the state, in our conference and in the sports world in general.

SNAP!! Son, you done got told!

One thing we can all agree on. We are passionate and loyal fans. I'm sure there are a number of Aggies who, after their school, like to see Weber succeed and vice versa here in Wildcat country, but we will always have our disagrements. Makes the instate games that much more exciting and entertaining.
