Breaking News: Nate Halverson Offered By PSU

http://northwesteliteindex.com/articles/jordan/jan12/psu.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In breaking news Grant's all everything athlete Nathan Halverson (5-11 175 CB/SB) has received his first official offer from Portland St University. Halverson is considered maybe the top lock down corner in the state and should be seeing plenty of interest elsewhere as well.

Nathans brother Daniel is a high profile linebacker that will sign with PSU within the month. He returned from the Army All American Combine where he was named to the Honorable Mention All American team, something very tough to do coming out of the northwest. Maximo Espitia Jr of South Salem was the only player to earn all combine recognition last season.

The younger Halverson contacted us and said " Its feels great that all of the hard work has paid off and that my mom doesn't have to worry about school for me or my brother". Nathan is one of the most likable kids you are ever going to meet as we could see him garnering some Pac 12 offers at the end of the day. Expect to see Nathan on the NEI/Barton Tour over the Spring and Summer where he will battling the other top players from the northwest.

Let's get this years group signed.......

Can't blame Burton for trying to strike while the iron is hot though. Play your hand all the way out.

Whoa, we haven't even gotten to this year's signing day, and we're already going after someone for next year? It shows that Burton is really trying to be aggressive here.

Vikings 3.0 Starting To Heat Up As Baird Is Offered

http://oregonpreps.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1331625" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

One of the top recruits in the NWPR-OregonPreps.com Top 100 for 2013 is Marist super star Austin Baird. The speedy two way stud is next to Thomas Tyner the fastest kid in the region and perhaps overall the most skilled in terms of his ability to impact both sides of the field. Today Austin called us to help him break the news of a major event in his life.

And at the core of the big news are non other then the Portland State Vikings. Are you surprised?

Looking to continue their string of successes the Viks made their move in recent days letting Marist Head Coach Frank Geske know they were coming for the Baird.

"I have been emailing the PSU staff back and forth in recent weeks. And it seemed they were interested so they asked for my full transcripts and come background information which was all sent to them a few days ago," said Baird.

That led to the notice he received from his Coach today.

"Coach Geske called me to let me know that an offer for me to play on scholarship after high school was made and will be formalized by the Vikings in the near future," he continued. "It was great news to hear!"

What are his impressions of the Vikings?

"They had a good season and an amazing recruiting class. They have made one thing very clear," he said.

What is that we asked?

Baird made his point clear, "They are coming to get the best athletes and not going to wait. That I love about the Vikings and it is an honor to get that offer."

While he is definiyely going to consider the Vikings he has a stack of mail from other schools too and will focus his time in the off season to getting to Junior Days and a few select camps. Thos schools include Oregon State, Boise State, Idaho, Washington State, Eastern Washington in addition to the Vikings.

"Right now I am working hard to stay in shape and increase my size and speed. This was a big first step and the first offer feels great."

Austin Baird is right at the Top of the Rivals.com / OregonPreps.com which has been released and then updated monthly and can be reviewed anytime right here:

The list still says that he has "Multiple Offers". Nothing about a commitment on that page, but I might not be looking at the right one.

This is a great spirit NB & Staff have generated. We have become witnesses to their relational prowess and promissory credibility. This great spirit reflects and uplifts. It carries over, envelops and saturates robust health and vitality into OHSU-PSU. The game becomes our own. Grand Kudos to Torre & Selection Committee.

We learn from the history (and do not repeat the mistakes) of San Jose State, San Diego State and Fresno State. We learn from the recent history of and emulate the wise moves that Boise State has made. Look into their selling of "stock." They have adopted a "Green Bay" approach to financial stability and sustainability. We need to do the same here at OHSU-PSU.

I love the way the Viks attacked the MT schools last year. One-half second quicker executing the offense will reduce the eM(p)Ty boys to resembling fumbling bumblers.

How 'bout these nicely new speedy Viks? They're huge! The Vik Walks are going to glory in greatness.

NEI Player of The Year Connor Strahm Gets PSU Offer

http://northwesteliteindex.com/articles/jordan/feb12/strahm.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

In Breaking News the SWC , and NEI Player of the Year Connor Strahm (6-1 210 Jr. SB/DB) earned his second major offer from Portland St and Nigel Burton earlier today. The Sheldon standout that accounted for 28 Tds and almost 2000 all purpose yards got the good news earlier from the Vikings.

" I talked to Coach Burton and Coach Z earlier and they offered me a full scholarship, I was very excited to get the call and I think we really connected. Strahm continued, I like the fact they are taking kids from Oregon and showing that we are just as good and even better then players from other states".

Strahm was offered by Montana last week and says that PSU would like him to come in and play defense. Strahm finished second in Ints (7) to Jack Anderson (9) of Lake Oswego, and was the only junior in the state named to the Oregonian All State First Team on both sides of the ball.

Connor Strahm may be the most exciting player in Oregon coming into next season, and we consider him the leading candidate for Oregon State Player of the Year . Taylor Barton speaks to numerous Pac 12 type schools about Connor on a regular basis, and we expect to see some things happen at that level moving forward. He is an NEI favorite and overall great kid and we are excited to see Strahm go off in 2012.

Burton and Staff always working on the recruiting front, just got to love it Viking fans. :thumb:

Two Of Oregon's Best Add To Offers -Brayden Kearsley/ Evan Colorito

http://northwesteliteindex.com/articles/jordan/mar12/offers.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Evan Colorito (6-4 225 LB/TE Jr. Beaverton) one of the state's Top 15 athletes for the class of 2013 let us know about his first Division one offer from Portland St last night.

Colorito attended the Army All American Combine and was an all Metro league athlete at linebacker the past two seasons. Evan is the son of Dr. Tony Colorito who was an all american at USC, before playing in two Super Bowls with Denver.

" My mom and I went and visited the school yesterday, and I was really impressed with everything they had to show me. He continued, " we sat down and they asked me if me if I had any offers, and when I said no they informed me that was no longer the case".

" Coach Burton was great and I really liked the entire coaching staff, when I went in the locker room I had brief memories of my dad and I going in to USC's locker room when I was 6 or 7 years old".

That's not trying to compare PSU's locker room to USC, but just the love of the game in a college football environment is special to Colorito.

Evan's a very appreciative and humble kid as this looks to be just the start of the recruiting process. You could very well see multiple Pac 12 schools pull the trigger on him in due time, finishing as one of the state sack leaders the past two seasons.

Ragin Takes Top Honor At Nike SPARQ (Video)

http://oregonpreps.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1373855" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

One guy looking to get the offers rolling is stud athlete Johnny Ragin of Wilsonville. The powerhouse back had a great day at the Nike SPARQ Combine taking top honors.

Johnny is 6'3" and 200 pounds right now and just continues to transform his body and his game to the next level every few months. The kid trains as hard or harder then anyone.

He turned in a 111 SPAQ Rating taking top honors at the Tigard High School stop on the NIKE SPARQ Tour. That was a major improvement form a 94 last season and just shows how far he has come. The 111 gives him one of the best overall scores in the Nation. Tomorrow he will be one of the guys we cover at the Nike Football Training Camp (NFTC) and that is his chance to show schools what he can do as some coaches will be in attendance.

Here is a nice interview we caught with the top kid from Wilsonville. Johnny Ragin has to be one of the best athletes in the Region still waiting on that first offer and there is no doubt that could happen any day.

WOW - we could be witnessing the beginning of an avalanche of talent and really good kids being recruited to the Park Blocks - and nearly every recruit is saying the same thing "These are the coaches I want to play for" - what a testament to Nigel and his staff ! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

P.S. And to think, these are kids who just finished their junior year of high school - already men!

Offers & Commits Everywhere; Showcase Event Very Successful

Huge event and Portland State seems to have been one of the most active participants there! Roll Viks!
