2013 Schedule

True, Montana does average around 25,000. You're the flagship of the state, paralleling University of Oregon, so it's not surprising. The only competitors you have for an audience are MSU, and maybe Carroll (when was the last time you invited Carroll?). Marketing Montana is easy. Marketing PSU against two in-state Pac-12 teams is - well, let's say challenging. Driving around Portland you see cars painted green with yellow trim, UO flags flying. Occasionally , an orange flag for OSU. Can't fight that. They have budgets at least four times that of PSU athletics. The Oregonian doesn't cover PSU. They won't until PSU moves to FBS, and that's not likely to happen any time soon. At least they'll cover the game against Eastern - it's in-state. They'll cover the game against Cal - it's Pac-12. Humbolt? They'll use an AP release, maybe four column inches. My heart goes out to our marketing team, as they try to get another few heads into the stadium.

Wasn't throwing stones..just had to straighten out a significant error in the attendance. No fight from me on the competition your faced with. I believe the key is to persevere. It took a billionaire to get us off the runway.(dennis washington) Don Read had a lot to do with our rise also..Oregon man... :)

Yup, Read was an Oregon man. More than that, he was a PSU man. He started his coaching career way back in the 60s when we were PSC, not PSU. Did four average years, moved to UO where he crashed and burned. Dropped down to of all places OIT, and in 86 managed to get the Montana position. There he did reasonably well over the next twenty years, not great but good. Seasons averaged out to 4-6, but you'll remember the string he put together for three years of playoffs. A good way to go out.

How are you guys looking this year? The FCS seems to be very strong. I know it's early, but I wanted to get a feeling how the conference is perceived from within this year. :thumb:

We should know a lot after Saturday against UC Davis. Two blowouts of lower division programs and a strong showing versus Cal have my hopes up.

Sounds solid...look forward to hearing how you perform this weekend. I'll check back after Saturday. 8-)
